Some people are only here to stir up trouble. Others are having a bad day and take it out on people on the Net because it's easy. Still others forget sometimes that it's a real person on the other side of the message.

You can't control the actions of others, you can only control your own. Peace :)

I understand your concern. I, myself, am a Christian, and that sort of rude reaction doesn't present the true face of Christianity. Excuse them.
I think that it's not because of Christians and Muslims, but because of the nature of humans. Both Christians and Muslims believe that they have something that other people do not: the truth. Because they have the truth, they are ordered by their holy books--the Qu'ran and the Bible--to spread that truth to those whom they perceive as lost. I know that the Bible instructs Christians to do this in a HUMBLE manner, though, because, without Christ, we are more or less the same as an unsaved person. I'm assuming that the Qu'ran tells the followers of Islam to lead people to the faith humbly as well.
Those who truly do not understand their faith, however, would be tempted to do something different. You know how humans feel when they feel they have something that others don't? Yeah. They tend to gloat and rub it in other people's faces. Christians who truly don't understand their faith would pretty much do the same thing. I guess that's the reason why that girl asking about Buddhism got attacked. She was unfortunate enough to encounter Christians who don't understand that they are not better than anyone else, but the grace of God is the only reason why they are anything. I suppose that's more or less the same thing with those Muslims who worship Allah.
So, that's pretty much it. Those Christians and Muslims don't seem to be true representatives of their faiths because, if they were, they would know that attacking people like that because they feel superior cannot be justified.

I think it's true that all Christians aren't hateful. But the ones that aren't hateful are almost never fundamentalists. I don't know enough about Islam, but I've met plenty of Muslims who were decent and some that really weren't. The ones that were decent were never fundamentalists. The problem with calling fundamentalists hateful is that they don't even know what the word means.

Throwing rocks at gays or beating up a Wiccan kid isn't hateful if you consider them to be spawns of the devil and not human beings, and I think that's pretty much the problem here. I really think, from my own experience, that christians have far worse morals (in general) than non-christians. The molesting pastor from my childhood now has a huge web-site raving about the evils of homosexuality. He has the support of his church, and he isn't an exception. I can think of many other examples.

I'm christian and I'm tired of people coming down on us because of our religion. i don't know about other Christians but i don't make fun of atheists just because they don't think the same way i do...so maybe you guys shouldn't make fun of us just because we worship God. I am a peaceful person for the most part but when people constantly put you down for your religion it gets hard to stay calm, cool, and collected. a person can only be pushed so far before they snap. I'm not lying when i said i was peaceful and i think that if you repent for your actions, the Lord will forgive you and allow you to enter into his kingdom. Everyone has a cruel attitude...not just Christians and Muslims.

Christian and Muslim churches compete fiercely since old days. They make money with their churches so they need more followers so they encourage people to convert outsiders. They think people of other religions are going to hell and they should help them. It may be true for hill tribes people who had no culture. They did not know that in Asia , Buddhism existed before Christ. Actually Jesus leanrt about peace from Asian monks and since then Christianity has improved.

There are 2 billion Christians in the world and 1.2 billion Muslims in the world. You can't generalize and say they are all cruel or they are all nice. It's the same was as saying "why are black people so mean" or "why are all whites cruel." I can only say that the majority of both religions are peace-loving, kind people.

Was this a physical or verbal attack? If verbal, was it an "attack" or sharing of differing beliefs with which you disagree?

One the face, this question stereotypes all persons of two belief systems based upon one incident.

One will find good and bad in all groups of people.

If this was indeed an attack, it certainly would be upsetting and confusing to see a few Christians and Muslims acting this way, but they by no means represent their respective religions.

i've only been here a few days, but I have seen tons of peaceful messages by both Muslims and Christians. So, how can you judge everyone on these boards by the acts on one question you are referring to? What about all the positive messages, haven't you seen them?

And, are you suggesting you've never said anything rude or hateful to anyone, ever? :)

Not all Christians are hateful, I'm not. Take people at face value and try not to lump them all together. There are a lot of hateful people in the world, but I would just say that person is hateful, not the whole group of people that they associate with.

not all christians or muslims are hateful.....I think it's just that some people are very ignorant and close-minded. Not many people accept others that beleive somthing different that their own. So I guess why the only reason why the girl was attacked was that they were ignorant.
