My mother was, [ my grandmother was dead by the time I was born] ,but of all of my siblings, I am now the better cook in our family. My mother taught me how to use herbs and spices to flavor foods. How to saute, how to make pies from scratch. How to bake. How to make soups , stews, and pasta dishes. How not to dry out food by cooking on high heat too long.
She had a respect for the foods she cooked and it showed in the fantastic dishes she turned out. I learned a lot of European dishes from her and I am glad I took the time to learn.
I learned more than cooking as I watched her create her mouthwatering dishes. My mother is gone now and I miss her wisdom as well as her cooking. Thanks Mom, I am glad I learned how to celebrate life from you.

When my grandmother was alive she could cook anything!! It was all great!! She had grown up with little and learned to make yummy dishes with whatever she had.
My mom is a very good cook. When I was younger, she cooked even better than now.
I love to cook. Did it 9 years at an elementary school. I'm pretty good :) There are some things she cooks better and others I do :)

My grandmother's dead and she was a great cook until other people influenced her and she switched to Crisco and margarine instead of lard and butter.
My mom's never been a very good cook, but she tries. Salt, pepper and fresh herbs are not something she uses with any regularity.
I am a good cook. I am not afraid to try more difficult cooking techniques and like to read all kinds of cook books.
I'd say it's a tie between my grandma and me.

Mom, definitely. My grandmother was a good "country cook" but Mom can cook anything. I can cook, but don't enjoy doing it while Mom does...and that's part of the reason she's so good at it.

My grandma died but she was the best cook anywhere!!! My mom is really really good and in many ways fantasic. I learned from them both and I think i am an excellent cook, and people tell me that. I wish as a young child I knew that people died, because I would have asked for alot more kitchen advice from my grandma, she rocked!!!!!!!!!!!

My great-gramma, when she was alive. She could make just about anything from scratch.
Of the women in my family that are still alive, it would be me. My nana doesn't cook at all, and my mom bowed to my cooking years ago after I offered to cook for her.
