You may gain weight in a humid climate if you drink water more than usual or eat more salt to compensate for what you lose in sweat, but this gain will be just water gain. Nothing to really worry about.

Hey I feel the same way myself sometimes, I am fat and have been for years. I want to lose weight but worry about the loose skin, stretch marks and that my body is ruined anyway and I'll never have a cute sexy body so why try? But I'm trying to change that to be more positive. You are still young so your skin is more resiliant also you are not so huge yet just chunky. So start losing weight today, buy some quality body lotion or oil and massage it in everyday after your shower, dry body brush, massage your skin, do a home body wrap, drink lots of water and take the supplement MSM and Vit C. Lose the wieght 2 - 3 lbs a week no more. Work out do cardio and weights. I bet you will be pleasently surprised with your body 6 months from now if you do these things, just hope I can take my one advice!

Hmm, this is an interesting question. I wonder if it is just humidity. Both my husband and I gained weight after moving from a cold place to a place that is always warm.
Maybe somehow the body works harder (burns more calories) in certain climates?

Not directly from the humidity, but it might affect you indirectly.
Extremely humid weather tires you out quicker and makes you want to stay inside and rest. Your refrigerator might see more of you with this type of forced-confinement... next thing you know, you've put on a little extra weight from all that chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream you've scarfed-down.

Humidity and heat cause you to eat more, due to the increased use of electrolites and energy used to keep you cool. Since you already live in a warm place I gather, when it gets humid it only feels hotter, and this will cause you to want to eat and drink more. Try if it happens again to avoid sodas and soft drinks, and stick to your usual eating regiment.

You're eating too much salt. Your body is trying to make you drink more, so your unconcious thought is making you eat saltier foods. The sodium will help you retain all that liquid you get thirsty for. Try drinking a whole lot more water, or gatorade or my favorite, Propel. Stay away from the sodas and salty foods.
