I would recomment the Pimsleur CDs to get started.

I'm not sure where Batumi is, but there are some really great language cd's out there that you can play in your car. No books or anything. I'm doing the italian one right now. I actually found it on Ebay for ten bucks cheaper than the bookstore. Might want to look into it.
