Some of the responses are seriously damaging my view on human intelligence/humour and literacy levels across the globe.
Not that I have any of those either, I just thought more people did.

The really funny thing is nowhere in the bible does it say how old the earth is. nowhere. They calculate the age of the earth by stringing peoples ages together. It is actually very silly.
The bible and science go together hand and hand. The bible is not a book of science nor of history. There are historical facts in it but that is all. It is a book of theology. People try and make it something G-d never intended it to be.
By the way Jews, in general, going back to at least the 12th century have accepted this fact. When I speak of the Bible of course I am only referring to What Christians call the Old testament.

The book of Genesis tells us that the creation process took six days. To humans, one day is only 24 hours but to God a thousand years is as one day. The past 6,000 years of human history may seem a long time when compared with our average life span of less than 100 years. But according to God's timetable and his view of the passing of time, these thousands of years are like six days—less than one week! : "But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day." 2 Peter 3:8
This could mean that getting the earth arranged and ready for mans habitation took 6.000 years, but the earth could be much older. Scientists estimate the age of some rocks as being three and a half billion years, and the earth itself as being about four and a half billion or more years old.

Actually the earth is over 5 billion years old. And how would glue and the world circle be there if the earth wasn't? Whoever told you that failed history.

I'm lost in your logic: reason being, if glue and the world circle are human inventions/creations...where did they come from if humans were not around yet? Sorry but you left me way behind on this question!

only if you take the Bible literally, like a year is really a year and by Create, God actually allowed the earth to evolve naturally over millions of years.
