If you want power and good gas mileage, you should really only look at big 4-cylinders and probably turbo-charged engines. Also, a very small and light car will feel like it has a lot more power (from a 4-cyl). My recommendation is a Suburu WRX - wish I could buy one of those.

The Corvette has always got pretty good fuel economy 25-30 mpg, considering it's got a 300+ Hp V8!
