You've never failed at anything so don't be afraid now. Your anxieties are probably due to going out on your own and living away from your parents and family. It's a great time to be your age, I mean being your age is great. Live life to the fullest, get a little naughty and explore yourself and experiment -- that's what college is all about to be honest!
Don't let your parents see this Answer! Hehe. Good luck to you. Even if you decide not to be pre-med, Yale is a great school and you will be great.

A close friend of our family went to be a baby DR.He made it OK , His father in the bay area is a well known Dr too. LOOK he made it through and was a baby Dr 4 a year or 2. I never Under stood why he studied Real estate at nite. And he finally passed the board to be a broker. Made enough money to afford a small house. HE was doing Real estate at nite. And he was a baby Dr by day. Then he gave a 90 day notice, found a Dr to take over the practice and went into Real estate full time.--- They say he comes in that medical practice only a couple of times a month 4 special cases. HIS heart is in Real estate. HIS parents did not under stand at first and at first cut him off the family funds and other things, BUT his father finally grew up and realized his son was a special +gifted with rare talents. THIS man is my hero. HE placed me in a home in the bay area,NO money down. He now puts new parents in homes that would never have a home so their babies will have a place to grow up.----------follow your heart, follow your dreams,--------climb till your dreams come true. G-d bless u star

Speaking as a parent of a 15 year old here, I would have to say that you couldn't possibly let your parents down at this point. You have attained what so many strive for, but fail to do- to attend an Ivy league school. Congratulations. You should be proud, and your parents should be extremely proud and thankful. All you can do is your best. Your parents wont be let down if you do your best, no matter what the result.

I think that you're just feeling the pressures of going away to school. I think that you should try to relax. You must be a great student if you got into Yale. You'll do fine once you get there. Right now it's probably just the fear of the unknown.
I think you should talk to your parents and tell them how you're feeling so if they are putting pressure on you they can understand how it's affecting you. Then maybe they'll let up.
You'll be fine. Just know when you get there you'll have to get down to business, I'm sure you're familiar with hard work because you're going to Yale!
Relax, enjoy your summer, you'll do great!!!!!!!!

First of all, congratulations for reaching your childhood dream. In my opinion, you should go to school this fall with your head up. I would remain focused and do the best you can. Get all the resources you can to help you with the schooling, if you need it. You said you have never failed at anything so far.... keep that in mind and remain to have a positive attitude. Don't let this opportunity get you down because it might make you fall. I wish you the best!

It's nice that you idolize your parents, but now it's time for you to spread your wings and develop YOURSELF. You are now at an age where you should be looking out for your own trials and tribulations and stop worrying about your parents... cut the cord. If you don't now, you never will. If they are who you think they are, they will stand beside you... not push you from behind like a baby clothed in a diaper. You're walking now... you're very intelligent... I understand how much you care about them. Take charge of your life. I hope you are becoming a doctor because it's your dream and NOT what is expected of you. If it is not your passion, don't waste anymore time and do what YOU want to do. God bless you!!!

Don't worry about your parent's expectations, because that is a sure path to being disappointed. I'll let you in on a parenting secret here. Parents want their kids to be happy and do well in life. You need to find your own path, and live your own life. If you do that, your parents will be proud of you anyway, even if you end up on a totally different path to them. They will see you as strong, independent and intelligent regardless of where your path takes you. If you do not succeed in the medical field, it does not mean that you have failed, merely that your talents lie elsewhere.

I think what you may be worried about is letting yourself down.
Good parents love you even when you mess up, I know I do love my kids like that.
It's really important since your a bit scared starting out on this new venture that you fill your mind with positive thoughts rather than negative. Like the childrens book about the little engine that could, keep saying I think I can I think I can and doing all you can and soon you will be saying I know I can I know I can.
Best wishes on your new endeavors.

1) If you made it to Yale, you are capable of accomplishing a goal
2) You are making a change in your life, so that is stressful and causes worry
3) If your parents are truly great parents, they will still love and accept you if you find that medicine is not for you.
Being a doctor is not an easy life especially if you take call, so I hope you think long and hard about your speciality.

You sound like a very determined person. You should only meet your expectations, no matter what you do. Be sure to do it for yourself. You won't fail, you are just under a lot of pressure. Stop worrying, you will be fine. Good luck to you.
