I have never used flights.com. To give you the best recommendations, I would need to know where you are flying from. THere are cheaper option if you are flying out of LAX (los Angeles), New York or Miami. If you are flying out of other cities, or one of these three, you can check your local Sunday paper's travel section for cheap flights with consolidators or charters.

ONline sites like Expedia.com, hotwire.com and travelocity.com get commissions from the major US airlines to sell you tix on their planes. Flight.com seems to be a similar servic, just less well known. I did do a comparison, though, and they aren't the least expensive. I found cheaper fares via travel.yahoo.com (which is associated with travelocity).

You may miss out on some non-US carriers and carriers that don't participate in those services. For example, you won't fins Southwest Airline tix via these services, or charter flights.

I usually use these services to find out what airline flies my route, ten I go to that airline's site to find better fares/times.

Have fun in London.

ADDED: Flying out of Nashville you will likely have to connect via Atlanta or NYC to get to London. It might be worth driving the 4hrs to Atlanta if you can get a cheap flight thru a consolidator/charter flight out of atlanta, but it won't be less expensive to "fly" to either airport and then change from a major airline to take a consolidated flight: if you add the cheaper price of the leg to london plus the cost of air to either NYC or ATL, it's will likely be the same or more, and definitely more of a hassle.

Check your paper on sunday to see the ads, and remember there are 2 airports in London:

LGW - London - London Gatwick Airport
LHR - London - London Heathrow Airport

I think LHR is for the major international airlines, and the charters and cheaper flights may go via LGW.

When I looked up airfare from Nasheville, I got flights around $580 (American Airlines) - Northwest was cheaper, but it's worth an extra $40 to fly on a better airline with more legroom, entertainment and food. check with Nasheville to see what the major airlines are that run thru there. Here's a link from my search: http://dps1.travelocity.com/airgchoice.ctl?SearchMethod=BestFareFinder&trip_option=roundtrp&dep_arp_cd(1)=nasheville&arr_arp_cd(1)=london&module=calendar&adult_pax_cnt=1&chld_pax_cnt=0&senior_pax_cnt=0&frontDoor=Y&departure_dt=Aug&arrival_dt=Oct&pref_aln=all&FromTF=true

You may want to look at flights out of Memphis too. It might be worth the trip. I don't know how far you are from there, but seems that their airport is bigger than Nasheville's.

I've never used flights.com, nor have I heard of them. If you aren't too picky on the times you fly, try priceline.com. Name your own price!! Also, try the direct airline sites...sometimes they have deals that you don't know about until you search their site. Good luck and enjoy!
