Just running from the police is no reason for the police to shoot a suspect. Te police can only use deadly force when they beleive they or someone one is in grave danger due to a suspects actions. Running away is bad but they shouldn't be shot. Some people get so nervous when they see the police that they lose all common sense and they take off even if they did nothing wrong. It would be completely wrong to shoot and possibly kill the poeple because they were scared.

When those things happen the core issue is 'why' did the police shoot. Merely running away is not acceptable cause to shoot, whether the idea is to wound or kill. But if the crook just finished gunning or killing someone else and he is a very clear and present danger to kill someone else if he escapes, and the officer can later articulate that kind of circumstance, the killing can be justified. It cannot be very well answered in a hypothetical question/answer format. As you've noticed in newspaper coverage of such incidents it sometimes takes weeks, months and trials to come to a conclusion of was it right or was it wrong.

Depriving someone of their life (or potentially doing so) is a very serious act and, if done at all, should only be done for one reason, to prevent the person being shot from taking another's life. Unless the person running away is posing a threat to someone else (say they were running to activate a bomb for instance), the shooting might be legitimate. Mere fleeing from police is not reason enough to shoot.

Are not the Police still the good guys so far? I haven't heard of them just shooting people for no reason in masses . What if the man running was dangerous to Innocent and weaker people should they be allowed to hurt them?

As far as car chases go, thhere should be 5 years minimum jail time for ANYONE who refuses to pull over for a cop. Car chases endanger the lives of innocent people, so the punks that run should be punished harshly.

No. I can understand how it would piss the cops off having to chase someone but I don't think that warrants shooting a person. Unless, that person is armed and dangerous and esp. if its self defense. I think a little roughing the suspect up to let them know you don't appreciate their disrespect for the badge would do okay or maybe a swift kick in the ***.
