I would like to say something to my daughter in front of the congragation on Sunday after she is baptized by water. I'm so very proud of her but don't know how to put it into words in a biblical sense. Please help me quick.

The Savior set the perfect example for us by choosing to be baptized. Your daughter has chosen to follow the Savior's perfect example. She has taken on a serious responsibility by doing this. She needs to stand as a light to world as the savior did. Reassure her that she can do this and that she has the light of the savior to share with the world. That through her example she can and should display the same things the Savior did, such as Love, Mercy, Forgiveness, Healing, Joy and so on. Tell her she has made the right decision, and give her your support a long the way. Speak from your heart, You will do great!

Nothing at all...
But you seem to be so convinced about it, that you better think twice if you really want her to get baptized..

Just in case, you want to better understand what is she going to be at on Sunday... And why you have nothing to tell her... but congratulations...

Baptism is generally a water purification ritual practiced in many of various religions including Christianity, Mandaeanism, and Sikhism. Christian baptism is believed by many to have its origins with the Jewish ritual of mikvah. The word baptize derives from the Greek word βάπτειν (the infinitive; also listed as the 1st person singular present active indicative βαπτίζω), which loosely means "to dip, bathe, or wash". To some groups it is a matter of religious conviction to assert that baptism is literally equivalent to, to plunge something entirely into the water, so that the water closes over it. To other groups, baptism is a symbolic term meaning "identification with" (e.g. Jesus) having no connection with earthly ritual.

I remember when I was baptized. Actually it was pretty recent, even though I've been a Christian for a while. It was cold.

This is going to sound cliché but bear with me: say what is in your heart. This is an important time in your daughter's life and she'll remember that day forever. Baptism is the symbolic mark of a person's acceptance of Christ. In this act, they symbolically take part in Jesus' death, burial, and resurrection. It's not the baptism that does this, but it is believing in Christ that makes you acceptable to receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit. I would remind her of this and that what also come with the Holy Spirit are gifts. Gifts of teaching, healing, prophecy, giving, helps, exhortation, etc...

I would focus on this and tell her to search for this, for everyone has at least one gift of the Spirit. Tell her to go into the world as a candle, as a light, illuminating the path to eternal life by the Word of God. Also tell her to deploy her spiritual gifts and abilities with the hope of building God's church.

A quote that I just recently heard was this:

"If you want to walk on water, you have to get out of the boat" by John Ortberg

It's actually one of his books, one of which I am soon going to read. Anyways, encourage her to go out of the boat, walk on water, and dream dreams bigger than any she's known. With God, anything is possible.

Enjoy her baptism,

Curtis

Baptism is washing of water and Holy Spirit which brings us in to the family of God. It removes the stain of original sin and places the Holy Spirit as a shield on your daughters soul. It is an indelible mark and necessary for her salvation. It was often said to those who question how to attain salvation that you must repent and be baptised. She is declared the adopted daughter of God and joins the community of believers working in the Body of Christ.

I would sincerely suggest that you tell her, to Flee,,,to run, to save herself from the hypocrisy and false religion to which you have brought her into for brainwashing.... Really. How sad it is that children are lied to with such a straight face, told that other fictions are also the Truth,,,such as Santa Claus..and the Tooth Fairy...Peter Pan, and Superman... or will she have to learn the truth the hard way...?

You don't have to say a thing. Sometimes silence speaks louder than words. Just talk to her afterwards, just make sure you give the priest a few hundred bucks or whatever its worth to ya! You know the saying, "money talks........
