Pizza Hut charges a delivery fee! They tack on another $1.30 to each order for delivery. On top of that delivery guys want tips. Do you tip delivery guys? I mean if I am ordering $15.00 worth of pizza, I am charged tax plus a delivery fee PLUS the guy wants a tip. How much should I tip him or should I even bother??? If I don't tip, what should I say if he asks?
This has been bothering me for awhile. Thanks for responding.

I might also need to mention that it's within walking distance from my house. Less than 2 minutes. I would drive up there but...it's easier to have them deliver.
I feel bad about not tipping and last week one guy asked for one. So that's why I'm asking you all. I just have a problem tipping when it's less than 5 min from the house and I'm been charged a fee for it...and then the guy wants a tip. The fees are like 25-30% of the price....It really disuades me from ordering pizza at all... =/

I don't know how Pizza Hut works but I know that Papa John's Pizza in my area always gave drivers a mileage(sp?) wage and didn't charge for delivery. Now they are charging for delivery and using that as the wages. The drivers didn't get anything extra for it and many people won't tip because of it. Most drivers I know are against it.

I tip the Domino's guy, but there is no delivery fee.
OK, so you want some guidelines.
How fast you want that pizza delivered after you order it?
You want to be first on their list or last?
I generally tip two or three dollars. Pizza takes 20 minutes to cook, and I get it within half an hour.
Hey, bad weather, I tip $5. Guy on the phone goes "It will take an hour to get there", I go, yo, is Paul working there tonight. Guy goes yeah. "Tell him Dio just ordered a pizza"
And I get the pizza in 30 minutes. And Paul gets his 5 bucks. All depends on how you look at it you know...

If I'm charged a high delivery fee, I don't usually tip - some places charge $3 for delivery! If it's just $1.50 or less, I'll just round up the total and tell them to keep the change. I have never had anyone ask me for a tip or ask me why I didn't.

The delivery fee is for gas. I used to work at Alfy's (a local pizza chain exclusive to Snohomish Co. in Washington) and they finally started charging for delivery when gas topped $3.00 a gallon. And I always tip. Poor guy works for minimum wage driving around his poor beater car and then getting yelled at by people because he wasn't there fast enough on a Friday night when everyone and their brother has ordered pizza... He deserves a tip

Personally I'm very big on tipping. Tipping is how waiters and delivery people make their money. They're getting paid squat, plus they have to drive to your place and use their gas. Usually if the pie gets to my door in good enough time or my service at a eatery is fair I tip 20%.

What you have to realize is that delivery fee usually does NOT go directly to the delivery guy/girl, and the delivery guy/girl makes LESS than minimum wage so YES - TIP THEM!!!!

I tend to tip the delivery person. I don't know what their base salary is, or if they have to pay for their own gas, but I still give them a little extra.

the delivery guy shouldn't be asking for a tip. thats just rude. it should be up to the discresion of the person. ovbiously if you dont want to pay for the charge then pick up the pizza yourself.

Yeah Dominoes does that too. I just tip'em anyway. It's not the driver's fault that the company charges for delivery now.

I tip them at least $4.00 because they have to pay for their own gas, and they only get paid like $2.35 an hour because they make tips, so I try to help them out a little.
