Well actually flower companies have changed the meanings of flowers to sell more (eg Yellow used to mean jealousy or a decrease of love, but these days they say it means friendship). In Victorian times there were all sorts of meanings for roses.
A burgandy or deep red rose means "unconcious beauty" which I think is quite nice.
A white rose means "I am worthy of you"
If you give her a rosebud (which are quite pretty too) it means "Pure and lovely"
Also though yellow roses do mean pretty bad things, but I still love them, and I've never gotten mad at my boyfriend for giving me yellow roses, so go with what you think is the nicest, even if the meaning isn't exactly what you want to say.
Peach is also a great color when it comes to roses.

well you can cut like a centimeter of the stem off and put it in a vase as soon as you buy a few days before you give it her and put blue food coloring in the vase so the rose turns blue because most girls love the color. Or you can just do whatever color, some may think its crazy but i think its romantic, the yellow rose is a natural color though.

dont send yellow! yellow is the rose representation of friendship. Try a mixture of pink and red, or if you can figure out your girlfriend's favorite color, just go with that.

Give her a black rose. That's different, and I know that I would want a black rose.

Try pink or purple. Or another flower altogether, like tulips, lilies, or daisies.
