It is my belief that if you can't explain something you learned from the Bible IN YOUR OWN WORDS, then you don't really know what you're talking about. It is as though you were merely spitting out unchewed, unrefined scripture at people instead of telling them something you have absorbed and made part of your daily activities.

Case in point: Do you say, "Here comes the train! CHOO CHOO!!" every time you put a spoon full of food in your mouth? Do you still keep your hands at '2 and 10' when you drive your car? Do you still wear a daiper, or are you good without one? So, why should I believe that you understand what you're talking about as far as the Bible is concerned if you still think the scripture says it better than you?

Any time you defend your beliefs by quoting scripture, it's like you're running to GOD and telling him that I disagree with you and expecting him to smite me down for it. Do you think GOD's word is so weak that it needs to be enforced at gunpoint?

Yes, people ought to be able to put in words of their own, the things they understand. I'm not sure you are saying so much that the bible isn't logical at all, just that there are many people who only spout off memorized verses without really understand what they are saying themselves. Just like other things. I can read spanish out of a book, and even memorize what it says, that doesn't mean I really know what I am saying.

That is an excellent point Adder. My dad used to tell me, when you throw a rock into a pack of dogs, the one that barks the loudest, is the one that got hit. Many people shout about their beliefs, because their faith is so weak, and unsubstantiated. Their scriptural knowledge is based on study, not experience.

It would seem to me that those who believe the most, should fear different viewpoints the least.
And those who believe in God the most, should feel the least need to defend him. God can defend himself, he doesn't need me to do it for him.

I guess it's similar to citing an authoritative source on any given question. If you ask me a physics question, and I quote Stephen Hawking, am I carrying a loaded gun?
I never thought about quoting the Bible as being threatening in that way. I'll keep that in mind in the future.

the Bible is really logical if you stand around reading it and studying it... yeah right.... the Bible uses metaphors and dramatizations... it can't sound logical until you start gathering evidence, archaeological proof blah bla blah! The Bible is to long to explain... in one answer I mean. Of course there are parts that are completely composed by religious fanatics and just made up "under the enlightenment of God"

Can you explain relativity, the law of entropy, the physical state of a quark in relation to the speed of light in mere layman's terms? Can you explain, in child's terms, in an essay on the expansion of the universe due to:
a. possible gravitational pull of black holes
b. the essence of supernovas changing the paths of comets and planets, hence the Tokyo butterfly effect?
c. Show evidence, mathematical conclusion and thesis to back up such claim.

1 Cor. 1:18
For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.
What Jesus did on the cross seems foolishness to some, but not to me. I would rather follow the foolishness of God than the wisest of men.

God invites us all to read His Word . Do you feel called out of your daily work in the world to sit and write what you understand for yourself of His Words. God is not so far away from us that we need His word read to us untill we come to a day of study when our way of thinking can not serve our need to understand further. then we humbly acknowledge our lack of understanding and the Holy Spirit will renew our mind to understand should you choose to believe He is there when you need him.

Wrong answer buddy, Gods word is everlasting and pure. Their is no need for me to put my "spin" on the Bible. That is why we have so many cults and sects to this day. Can you say Joseph Smith? It is God's word, not our word.

I refer to scripture to use Gods words. Sure, we can use our words, but it just doesnt have the same effect.
