People oppose others who are different out of ignorance which generates fear and fear becomes hate. This is a human cycle that has repeated itself in government, in society, and in schools. You are right that no one knows what really happens after this world and everyone has a different view. If we want to break the vicious cycle, we will have to be more tolerant of others, respect their views, and let them think what they want. We shouldn't try to change other people for what we think is better. I agree with you and understand you completely. I hope I answered you question or at least part of it.

Christians believe that witchcraft is a sin - therefore they are opposed to witchcraft. Therefore if the "most people" you refer to are Christian, that would explain why they are opposed to it.

However, freedom of religion means you have the right to practice the religion of your choice - but it doesn't mean that the people around you have to agree. They also have the freedom to believe that another religion is wrong.

You have the absolute right to believe in witchcraft but that same right gives other people the right to believe what they do.

Belief and faith means that you don't need physical proof. It does mean listening to your heart. So this book that you call a spell leading people in the wrong direction - is something people have faith in that it is truly doing the opposite.

Witchcraft is about faith too and that faith doesn't always have tangible proof. How do you know that those spells and rituals aren't a creation of the devil to lead you down the wrong path either?

There are arguments on both sides. Both sides require faith. Both sides have the right to exist. But a true believer in one is never going to agree with the other.

One person might cast a spell and believe it has results. Another person could have said a rosary and believed it yielded the same result.

Which one is right? Are either of them right? But by listening to your heart, your faith will guide you in the direction of the truth.

I wish you well in your quest for the truth and I hope you find the right path.

About 3 years ago, I converted from Wicca and Witchcraft to Catholicisim. I know that Christ and God is the true one way because living my life the of the commandments in Christianity has blessed me more than any spell that I had ever done, and fills my soul more deeply than any sabbat or esbat that I might have led. Wicc is a hollow religion in that it tells it's followers that you can do anything as long as you don't hurt anyone else. "An it harm none, do what thou wilt." Correct??? That sounds like a peaceful motto, however it never defines black and white, or good and evil. Go ahead, do drugs, it dosen't hurt anyone but yourself...untill you have seen what addiction can do and how many lives that it can destroy. Go ahead, have sex with whomever you want, we're all adults and committed relationships are for those uptight bible thumpers...untill you have sex with the wrong person and catch a disease, or get pregnant with someone's baby who really has no intention of being there for you or the child. Well, then I guess I'll abort this baby because it is my body, I can do whatever I want...untill you realize down the road afterwards that you can't have kids now because of scarring, not to mention that life does begin at conseption and now abortion death camps are starting to offer the mother painkillers for her baby because the fetus can feel pain as it's body is being ripped to shreads (Not kidding...search for "The Silent Scream"). You can't life life happily without clear right and wrongs. And without a a clear set of right and wrongs, that is why I let Wicca. You are right, you can choose what religion that you want to practice, but before you completley turn away from Christ, I would try to talk to a minister or a Parish Priest. Before you go judging all of us "Bible Thumpers" walk the walk if you are going to talk the talk and truly study Christianity before you make your choise.

Because people take their faiths very seriously and often get offended by others views. Witchcraft by most religions is viewed as a tool of the devil, only the divine can shape the world. It also has the unfortunate title of witchcraft rather than being called magic or wizardry.

Most religions use a factor of fear or punishment with the idea of a haven/afterlife. It is the natural aspect of the thinking mind to find ways with dealing with existence. Most religions focus very much on death and afterlife, a need to say that death is not the end. Voltaire once said "If god did not exist, it would be necessary to invent him."

Most large religions are often very simple and easy to follow which suites the average intellect of the busy modern person.

I loath the way people humanize god and or existence.

I am a Babalawo, or high Priest of the religion of IFA, which originated in what is now Nigeria.
Of course what I do can be confused for Witchcraft, which I don't have a problem with.

There are several reasons. Yes, people are afraid of the unkown. Did you know that the Unknown is the definition of The Occult?

First you blame the church, specifically Chrisitan churches. Though oddly enough many Hispanic Catholics also practice Santeria, which can be called Witchcraft. My Catholic Italian friends say to bury a statue of St Joseph upside down in your yard to sell you house faster. Thats sounds like Witchcraft, no?

Besides the church, blame the movies and television. The Exorcist, The Omen and on and on.

Also blame your friends and family. "You can't burn a candle for that, thats Witchcraft", you gonna go to hell!

Too many people worry about too many things. And from personal experience, most Witchcraft is used for good purposes.

Okay, I am a witch. There are two types of people that oppose us. The first are the people that are frightened by us and the second are people who think what we do is ridiculous. Since I am secure with myself. I don't really care about either of them. The only thing I don't like is when people think that its their job to preach their religion at me. Therefore, I don't openly volounteer myself as being a witch. If someone sees my pentagram and asks me I say yes and then go on with life. If they don't ask I don't tell. Therefore avoiding all confrontation with everyone. As far as a spell goes. Everytime we say something about a person or say our thoughts and wishes outloud then that is a spell that we cast. It is like a prayer. Yes we do use things that are catalysts of the spell, however, the spoken word and the thought process is the most powerful spells that we cast. Therefore, we need to be very careful about what we say.For our words can create and they can also destroy.

Ok I felt that same way so I studied into it all. It boils down to this: Of course if you believe in God, you must also believe in Satan. Witches get their power from Satan. There is such a thing as a with & warlock and they do have powers....but their powers are not as powerful as Gods. Actually, the Bible is the oldest history book available to mankind. It speaks of witches and so forth. It is all in there. I suggest that if you are willing to give the witch thing a try, then be fair to yourself and give the Bible thing a try also. Just a suggestion: Start with the "New Testament" because that is the time frame when Jesus was walking on this earth. If you get a Bible that has red letters in places, the red letters are what Jesus said. Jesus died on the cross for our sins because he never committed a sin....anyways....Just try reading it. Make sure you read a whole chapter and not just one sentence...I pray for God to Bless You with Wisdom from above....

There is no such thing as a "good" witch. Anything of a supernatural or paranormal nature which does not emanate from
God, is of the devil. In the Bible, God calls these things detestable and forbids them. This includes witchcraft, sorcery,
casting spells, foretelling the future, interpreting omens, mediums
or spiritists calling up the dead. To think that "dabbling" in these things are harmless, or that the powers behind them is non-existent, is exactly what Satan, the father of lies, wants you to think. It's part of his scheme to "win" souls away from the true God of the Bible. Fortunately, God's spiritual powers are stronger than those of Satan, but we need to arm ourselves with His word and with prayer to deflect the arrows of deception. Part of this is
following his admonitions against these 'spiritism' things.
When people are quoting bibical truths to you, they are not
judging you - that's God's job. They are simply telling you what God says or directs you to do on the subject. It is my prayer that you will seek out ultimate truths in God's word, and that you will not be seduced by the evil lies that have led you to ask "what is
to fear about witches?"
May God bless you in your search for the truth.

If you are referring to the religious belief of Wicca, there is nothing to be afraid of. A lot of people just don't actually know what Wicca is. It has nothing to do with boiling cauldrons and conjuring up the devil. Its a pagan religion. They believe in love and free spirits. Most of what is worshipped is the environment around us, nature, trees, and other humans. It is generally woman in this religion and their diety is Mother Earth/GOddess/God. It isn't satan, or anything of the sort. Unfortunately, a lot of people are stuck with the fact that their belief is the ONLY belief, and it shouldnt be any other way. You'll be happy to know that there are a LOT of people that there that have a religious acceptance, no matter what religion others follow. To sum it all up, its all about your beliefs, and some people just have very self centered beliefs. To the uneducated, check out the link below. I found it very informative.

people are always afraid of what they dont know, and they make fun of it or just plain and simple put it down. Witchcraft was given a bad name during the time of the witchtrials simply because it threatened the careers of men that were doctors. Witchcraft was used for healing, and doctors did not want the competition, so they set out to destroy and ruin it. there are acyual books that document this. I did a research paper on this for college. It was actually very interesting. It did not convert my beliefs to turn towards witchcraft though.
