Yes, you now need to be on the policy as an authorized driver. Anyone who lives in the household of the policy holder and is of legal age to drive must be on the policy as either an authorized driver or an excluded driver. Anyone listed as an excluded driver is NOT allowed to drive any of the vehicles that they are excluded from.

if you are driving your mothers car then yes you need to be a listed driver on her policy. If you are excluded from the policy and you have an accident the insurance company WILL NOT pay for any damages that you do to your moms vehicle or anyone elses. Good Luck and see you on the road!!!

well i dont know about calif. insurance but you wouldnt want your own policy due to the fact your parents will probly put you down as a part time driver and your rate will be much lower then on your own. insurance companies charge young driver more due to the inexperince. this will stay with you til you are around 25 and got a good driving record

I don't know about California but when my son had his permit, I was told by my insurance agent that he was covered but I didn't have to add him to my policy until he had his regular driver's license. Check with your mom's insurance agent to make sure.
