Every war seems to be a religous war. Would the world be more peaceful if God and Allah were taken out of religion. Maybe tear up th Quran and Bible. They and their religons aren't making the world any better.

15 What must not be overlooked is religion’s role in these wars and killings. Mankind’s blood-drenched history can be attributed in great measure to the misguiding influence of false religion. Catholic theologian Hans Küng wrote: “There is no disputing that in negative, destructive terms religions have made and still make an enormous contribution. So much struggle, bloody conflicts, indeed ‘religious wars’ are to be held to their account; . . . and this also goes for the two world wars.”

16 How does Jehovah God regard false religion’s role in killings and wars? God’s indictment of false religion, recorded at Revelation 18:5, states: “Her sins have massed together clear up to heaven, and God has called her acts of injustice to mind.” False religion’s complicity with the political rulers of the world amounts to such bloodguilt, such a mass of accumulated sins, that God cannot possibly ignore it. He will soon completely eliminate this stumbling block on the way to true peace.—Revelation 18:21.

12 Do the facts support this indictment of false religion? In the book Preachers Present Arms, the author said: “In the history of civilizations, . . . two forces have ever been joined together in a dual alliance. They are war and religion. And, of all the great world religions, . . . none has been more devoted to war than has [Christendom].” Some years ago, "The Sun" newspaper of Vancouver, Canada, stated: “It is a weakness of perhaps all organized religion that the church follows the flag . . . What war was ever fought in which God wasn’t claimed to be on each side?” You may have seen the proof of this in some local church. All too often, national flags adorn the altar. Under which flag do you think Jesus would march? His words have echoed down through the centuries: “My kingdom is no part of this world”!—John 18:36.

The other major religions of Babylon the Great have not set a better example. The terrible massacres of 1947, when India was partitioned, show that the major religions there have not produced tolerance. Continued communal violence in India bears out that most people have not changed. Little wonder that the magazine India Today concluded: “Religion has been the banner under which the most hideous crimes have been perpetrated. . . . It unleashes tremendous violence and is a very destructive force.”

"Every war seems to be religious war." Show me how World War I & World War II were religious wars. How about the American Revolution, the American Civil War, the Spanish-American War, the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, Korea of Vietnam were religious wars. How about the War of 1812? The Spanish Armada vs. the English in 1066? The Mongol hordes taking over the majority of Asia and part of Europe?

Every war is about greed. It's about wanting territory or resources, or some other commercial venture. I read over & over how "most wars are religious." Stop spouting opinions & show me some facts. Shoot - even the wears that could have been about religion, like the Seven Day War, were about territory like the rest. So give it a break or come up with examples. And you can't use the Bible either. You can't make one statement knocking religion & saying that it's wrong & that the Bible should be burned, then turn around & use it as proof. Use secular proof since so many think that secular proof is the only proof worth using.

UPDATE:

Thank you for your update, but I have to disagree with you. While the posing being taken points to a religious war, Iraq was never about anything more than money. That & pride, but mostly money. After all, Pappy Bush & GW are both in the "oil bidness" (as they say in Texas). Seen the prices at the pumps lately? Started when we attacked Iraq & hasn't let up yet. Good for profits & good for the Bush family fortune. Plus, Pappy got kicked out before he had a chance to thump Saddam, so was there ever any doubt the US would attack at the first opportunity? Not in my mind. Besides - do you really think that GW is running the country? His daddy's men were all back in position 8 years later.

Afghanistan, however - that's the part of attacking Iraq that upsets me the most. We SHOULD be in Afghanistan & should not have left until we captured bin Laden & the rest of his men. And no going to war anywhere else. Note that I don't believe this is a religious war either - this one's about power. bin Laden doesn't need the money - he's a billionaire already. But he resents the power the US holds on the world, especially over his home country of Saudi Arabia. He's made it look like a religious war, but he rarely quotes the Q'uran - he just talks about how much he hates the US.

That depends what you mean by "religion". As a path to finding a Supreme Being, "living a loving life" is what happens on the way. Without religion, the world would hardly be more peaceful -- in fact, it'd be worse because human beings would have NO moderating influences (i.e., laws, most often derived from religious codes of conduct) and soon they'd find another reason to go to war.

Lets be clear - THE UNITED STATES IS NOT DECLARING "HOLY WAR" in the Name of God or Jesus.

ISLAM however Has, is and will continue to do wars and killings in the name of their Allah.

These United States is engaged in military actions for a different reason apart from religion. Not one time has any government branch of these United States ever declared our actions in the middle east as Holy or for God or such.

Some knuckle heads dreamed that up and is carried around like a chip on the shoulder by zombies who buy into it.

The Bible says that there will be wars before the End. We can't change that. Probably the reason for war is that we have to stand up for what we believe. That doesn't mean that we don't love. Maybe love is why we have to go to war sometimes. We have to protect our freedom, and sometimes help other people to have that kind of freedom too, because as Christians we love them too. Sometimes the only way to do that is to go to war.

Maybe your premise is wrong - that religion is for making the world better. Maybe your premise is also wrong that religion is supposed to guide believers into living a loving life.

The Bible prepares believers to love God, to love one another as Jesus loves us, to instruct believers how to live life, and offers to prepare people to participate in spiritual warfare.

I don't know much about the Quran, but think it emphasizes rules not love.

It isn't caused by religion, it's caused by people. Most religions and gods are man made such as Allah and the greek gods(no offense to ne one). Man makes war, the only true and living God makes only peace.

Because people are different. We have different opinions, different views on things such as religion, life, dating, etc... No two people are alike. Have you ever thought that maybe because they have taken God out of so many things we now have these WARS!!!!

This war is not about RELIGION.... it is about CONTROL.. either be like me or else... Like what I like, do what I do, love who I love or it will be WAR.....
