Kittens actually will eat kitten chow at 4 weeks old. You can moisten it with kitty milk or water to make it softer.

Start offering canned or moistened dry foods at about 4 1/2 - 5 weeks. Because it can spoil, make sure to clean up and replace it several times a day, and provide fresh water.
After they're nursing infrequently, reduce the moisture in the feed, if you wish. Soon, they'll be weaned. Mamma will take care of that!

They can start eating it as soon as they're ready. Tiny kittens should be started on WET kitten food, because their little teeth have to strengthen a bit.
www.purrinlot.com/kittenbirthcalendar.htm Go here and input the birthday of the kitten (or as close as you know it to be) and it will give you a good chronological guideline of what you can be expecting - roundabout.

It varies with the breed of kitten. 5-7 weeks is an average.
Please remember that kittens need to stay with the mother and littermates for at least 8 weeks (12 is ideal) so that they can properly learn to use a litterbox, groom themselves and interact with other animals.

Kittens are "weaned" from mothers milk at 7-8 weeks old and can then eat solid food

As soon as their teeth are in, you can fix their kitten chow with enough water to soften their food and let them have at it.

My kitten tried to eat my older cat's food at about 7 weeks old. I bought her some wet kitten food, and she wouldn't eat it so I bought her dry kitten food and she loves it!

Mine were pretty little. I'd say my boy was about 4 weeks old when he started eating solid food. The little girl took longer. My older cat was about 6 months when I stopped moistening his food.

Don't give your kitten that nasty food. Try Nutro or Nature's Choice or Science Diet. You will see a HUGE difference in skin, coat, eyes and behavior.

When they have enough teeth to chew it with...usually at about 2 months old. Best to start them out with a little moist food mixed in with it.
