I LOVE it. I make chocolate covered strawberries all the time, and use nothing but that chocolate! Of course, it's the milk chocolate, but it is definitely the best.

Personally, I'm not a big fan. (I'm talking purely about their bar products, ice cream good!!)
I could be wrong, but I don't think Ghirardelli actually makes their chocolate. I think they buy couverture from E. Guittard melt it down and then put their own logo on it. This is very common for most chocolate companies.
I prefer chocolates that are harder to find and use more exclusive and flavorful cacao beans. If you are willing to spend the cash on Ghirardelli then its worth spending a little extra cash for a Michel Cluizel, Amedei, Domori, Bonnat, El Rey, Chocovic, Slitti etc. I'm just addicted to the richness and complexity of these chocolates.

My favorite is one they don't make anymore. They used to do a dark chocolate with raspberries in the chocolate, rather than as a filling. Kind of like a crunch bar, but with raspberries. Apparently it was really hard on the machines, so they quit making it.
They make a raspberry filled dark chocolate square now that is pretty good, but not nearly as good as the old one. I suppose this version probably isn't so hard on the machines.

Ghirardelli is heaven. Our family makes a trip to the Square at least 2 times a year (we live across the bay). And their current trend towards DARK makes me very happy. They even have dark chocolate hot fudge now....did I say Heaven...

I love Ghiradelli!
They used to make (don't know if they still do) a chocolate bar with pecans....delicious.
Have you tried the Ghiradelli brownie mix? I don't usually use mixes, but theirs is really good.

yes, it is definitely very good chocolate, probably some of the best made in the usa. however, european chocolate is superb. i also prefer dark chocolate.

i make time when in SF to drop by the factory. i however don't discriminate; white, milk, semi-sweet or dark they're all good.
