My friend (who is a Sunnite) was expaining it to me, but I got a little confused. Plus, she was a little condescending, so I didn't want to ask her again. All I got from her was that dogs are dirty, and if one licked your hand, you had to wash it 7 times. And if some saliva got on your clothes, you had to burn them. But having a German Shepard for a guard dog is okay. Can someone please explain?

But do you have to wash 7 times? How about the thing with sand or burning your clothes?

And if animals are so unclean, then why don't we worry so much after going out in public and touching door handles and such. A lot of people don't wash their hands after using the restroom, so isn't that just about the same thing?

Every animal has been created for a purpose. It is a duty upon every human being to respect Allah’s creation. If we ill treat any of His creation, we will be questioned about it on the Day of Judgment..

Let me clarify a few myths and make a few points:

1. It is NOT banned to own a dog, though it is not hygienic to keep a dog in the house.

2. It is NOT banned to touch a dog or any other animal. If the saliva of a dog touches you or any part of your clothing, then it is required of you to wash the body part touched and the item of clothing touched by the dog’s mouth or snout.

3. It is incumbent upon all Muslims who own animals, whether for farming or work purposes or as pets, to provide adequate shelter, food, water, and, when needed, veterinary care for their animals. Arrangements must be made, if one is going to be away from home, to have one’s animals taken care of as well.

4. It is banned to keep a dog or any other animal on a short lead for long periods without food, water, and shelter. Dogs need exercise and are social creatures who form organized “family” structures in nature. Dog owners therefore need to spend time daily with their dogs.

5. It is cruel, and therefore haraam, to keep any animal in a cage so small that it cannot behave in a natural way.

6. Fireworks cause untold suffering to most domestic animals because of their acute sense of hearing.

7. It is banned to participate in any blood “sport,” like dog fighting and trophy hunting.

This was cited in an article for Dr. Ayoub M. Banderker ..

LMAO! The reason why Muslims are condescending is because they literally view all non-muslims as lesser creatures, not even really human. Sounds harsh right? Sounds like hate...its couldnt be true. Study Islam and all your simple notions of human goodness will disappear.

As Valdimir Putin said at ground zero "We are nothing to them". Of course Putin, after a decade of war with Muslims, is an expert on Islam.

Dogs? The haddiths say Muhammad hated Dog and even wanted them killed. End of story, what Muhammad did is what they must believe is the best way to live.

Dogs are in the same category as pigs, the wallow in/eat feces. They're dirty. But I've known Muslims who have them and treat really well, not like American, OMG my dog's my family member well, but well.

Muslims think it is against the religion. They also think they are dirty and nasty.
