Scientific Acceptability of Rebirth — Dr. Granville Dharmawardena.
Dr. Dharmawardena points out that the reason why classical science cannot explain rebirth is due to inherent limitations in classical science. Modern science has transcended these limitations, and therefore rebirth is within the scope of modern science. Modern science accepts rebirth as a scientifically acceptable phenomenon through the same tests used to prove scientific acceptability of generally accepted modern science phenomena.

The scientific acceptance of the idea of rebirth is largely about the exact definition of rebirth. While it's quite obvious that the human body is gone after the death, and cannot be recycled, proving a rebirth into a different body would be quite complicated, since you'd need some detailed evidence of things happening to people in previous life. Modern science or not, there has not been enough evidence yet of anyone living remembering vivid facts from their previous lives.

It is possible tha the energy contained within an organism can transmit onto another; whether through death or digestion. But to say that the consciousness of that organism can be taken also is a little "sci-fi".
