Heads do not need to touch in order to get lice, I have had them before and did not recall touching the head of the person I believe i got them from. Look for brown bugs they are small but you should be able to seem them with the naked eye. The bugs will eventually lay eggs that will appear to be white from a distance but are actually transparent. If he does have them just shave his head that would be alot easier considering the nit combs in the treatment packages do not work.

Don't risk it, at least do the shampoo. I overheard a homehealth nurse tell someone to use dog flea shampoo as it has the same ingredients but I wouldn't want to suggest someone go against product labeling even if the price is less than a tenth of human lice shampoo.

If, in fact, he does contract lice, you will know by tomorrow. That is how quickly they can lay their eggs.

Check him tomorrow night before he takes his bath. The places you want to REALLY check close are behind the ears and the hairline at his neck. That is where they like to hide.

As a preventative measure, you should probably go to the drug store and ask the pharmacist to lead you to a good shampoo for that (like RID or NIX). Also, wash all of his bedding in hot water with chlorine bleach. That will kill any that my be in the bed.

I wouldnt take any chances. I would go out to the store, such as Walmart or any grocery store, and by the lice shampoo. Its not that expensive and its definitely worth it. Otherwise you might end up with head lice.

i'd say he has a 50/50 chance, you'll know within the next 3 days (lice reproduce like crazy) keep checking his head for tiny raindrop shaped white eggs that if you flick them don't come off. they stick on to the hair very firmly. good luck, those things are seriously pesky.
