I automatically thought after I read that,"because then they wouldn't be able to do what ever they want with our country." That's the first thing that popped into my head.

You can make a change by not voting. If the vermin politicians find out that 95% of the people are against them they will have no choice but to start to act responsibly. Revolution is good.

That made me think. It's kind of true. We do have no power. The government just makes it seem like we have it. I live in the US, and 200 years ago the white rich men were in power, guess what, they are still in power. The government controls it all. We have no say, that is why there are eletroro (I suck at spelling) votes. We don't even choose the president, we choose the people who chooses the president. We have no power, only an image of it.

It's pretty true. Republican or Democrat the truth is, as a friend of mine used to say, "I still have to get up and go to work tomorrow." We don't really have any power.

I think voting can change the balance of power from republican to democrat and vice versa. We need republicans to come in and straighten out the mess democrats have made, then, in a few years, we need democrats to come in and fix the mess republicans have made.

Clever.
Actually it IS illegal in lots of places.
It can change things, but only if you vote for the right people.

I would say the following, but Stephen Colbert (The Colbert Report - Comedy Central) already did in a Commencement address at Knox College in Illinois.
Now, will saying "yes" get youin trouble at times? Will saying "yes" lead you to do some foolish things? Yes it will. But don't be afraid to be a fool. Remember, you cannot be both young and wise. Young people who pretend to be wise to the ways of the world are mostly just cynics.
Cynicism masquerades as wisdom, but it is the farthest thing from it. Because cynics don't learn anything. Because cynicism is a self-imposed blindness, a rejection of the world because we are afraid it will hurt us or disappoint us.
Cynics always say no. But saying "yes" begins things. Saying "yes" is how things grow. Saying "yes" leads to knowledge. "Yes" is for young people. So, for as long as you have the strength to, say "yes".

Simplistic and the writer probably feels disenfranchised, and much of the poorer areas do.
