It depends on lots of things. The mothers physical health and ability to carry babies needs to be taken into consideration. Another huge consideration is the amount of money it takes to raise even just one child. Yet another consideration is the amount of times both parents can spend with each child. Just because they come from the same parents doesn't mean they'll have the same dispositions. Some children demand more than others. Some people have a child that has physical or mental impairments and that would also play a part in deciding whether or not they should have more...or at least how many more they can handle.

Bottom line is there is no set answer for any couple. There are so many things to consider before having even your first child and ideally you'll do that before you decide the time is right. Decisions you make before the baby is born can have lifelong effects on not only you, but them.
