yes atheists go to hell. Jesus said the only way to heaven is through Him. He is the Way, the Truth, and the Light. No one comes to the Father but through Me. Since Atheists don't believe in God or that Jesus is God then they will go to hell.

If atheists are wrong they will find out when they die. If they see God they'll believe in him because all they ever wanted was proof. So then they wouldn't be atheists anymore. So its a moot point.
You can't help it if you can't make yourself believe in something when you have NO real evidence. You're just using your brain. How is that offensive to the being that supposedly gave it to you? If God is merciful and good why would he punish people for that? I guess I should put this last part in the question section.

Okay, I'm an atheist. I don't believe in the concepts of soul, heaven, or hell. I think that when I die, I'm worm food. Period.
That said, if I turn out to be wrong, I think I will go to heaven. I do volunteer work, I'm nice to people, I don't intentionally hurt others, I don't steal. In fact, I always try to do what I feel is right because it makes me feel good to be good. If there is a God, I think He'll allow me to go to heaven. Religous people who are hypocritical and say they believe but act in ways that are in keeping with the Bible, Koran, Torah, etc would likely anger him more.

In order for something to be truth, it must be believed.
For it to be fact, it must be proved.
A person who has a naturalistic viewpoint free of beliefs in mystical or supernatural things would not believe there is a hell. Therefore, it would not be a truth to that person and such a person would not go to hell. Hell would not be a truth because it is not believed, and it would not be a fact because it is not proven.

Just because I don't believe the sun is hot doesn't make it any less hot. Therefore, just because an atheist doesn't believe in hell doesn't make it any less existent.
They will go to hell if they don't believe in Jesus.

i could say that i don't believe in Africa. i could believe with all my heart there is no Africa, but the fact that i don't believe it doesn't mean someone couldn't pick me up and put me on a plane to Africa and i would end up there.
the facts are that anyone who doesn't have a relationship with Jesus as their Lord and Savior is going to go to hell when they die...even atheist who don't believe in it.

If you are considering the Christian system of afterlife, yes. The core requirement of going to heaven is believing in Jesus.
