Put toothpaste on it and a band aid over it, it cools it without bothering him. When I was little a got a huge burn on my leg and my mom did that, I didn't even get a blister.

He needs to hold an ice pack to it! Run it under cold water!
I did the same thing when i was like 9 i think, i put my whole hand on the stove! HAHA, pretty stupid eh?
I had bandages for weeks!
Tell him that it will make it feel better and he will get blisters if you don't let him!
Good Luck!

the best thing for that is to have him hold his finger in a little cup of very cold water. the reason he doesn't want you to hold anything to it is probably because anything rubbing on it, even just a little hurts. the cold water will make it feel better. have him sit down and watch TV or a video while he does it so that he will sit still. when your done with the water, put some chilled aloe juice or gel on it. this will sooth it.

My 22mo old son did that the other day, the only thing I could think of was pour cool water over it...not cold, that could make it hurt worse, and put ice on it. He wouldn't let me keep ice on it so I gave him a zip-lock baggie with ice and let him play with it, he held it with his burned hand. He only complained for 30 min. then forgot about it...so I guess it helped. He definitely knows the meaning of hot, now!

Depending on age, give him a small dish of cool water to soak the finger in.

Hopefully this will serve as an unfortunate lesson to the little guy. Good luck.

Spank him in the butt first...when he starts crying....hold his finger and put some ice on it. Jeez...where are the real parents gone?
