It seems to me that people of all ages and from all nationalities participate in this forum. Why is there always some anal retentive out there who has to whine about spelling or grammer?

Perhaps there is a problem with terrible spelling and grammar - a problem that irritates the living heck out of people who see it.
I make many typos while writing material, and despite (usually) reviewing the text, frequently miss errors. I take enough pride in myself and the quality of the writing to use the "edit" selection to fix those errors when I notice them.
I care more about the content of the questions, and the responses, than the relatively superficial aspect of usage. Nonethless, when someone writes an ineffably *stupid* question, or makes an incredibly *dumb* declaration - in language riddled with errors - the combination almost demands a response.
If you click on my screen name, you will be taken to the list of questions and answers I have posted here. In a few you will find small errors - but very few. You will find an honest effort to give serious content when the questioner is also serious. You will not see any criticisms of usage. But since you asked, it is irritating to see how very, very badly most people write. Almost everyone here has been given the chance to learn the simplest of language features, and should try. To international participants for whom English is a difficult chore, the desperately bad example Americans provide is no encouragement. If so many Americans want to demand "English only!" in the country, then let them LEARN TO SPEAK, READ AND WRITE REAL ENGLISH!!!!!

Well, if a person knows how to spell, it makes reading the post a lot easier. But I agree that it is wrong to hold non-English speakers to a high standard of English grammar, etc. You have to admit, some American posters here would fail 5th grade English, which ought to be embarassing when "foreigners" can out write and spell them. However, I suck at typing, so I cannot say too much.

I have mentioned some people's poor grammar and spelling on this site, but only for the ones that write as if they never passed the second grade. If I can't understand your question because it is so horribly spelled, then I rant on it. Everybody makes minor spelling mistakes, but not to the level that I've seen here on Answers.

Really, I must disagree. These are merely people asking for order. Given, they shouldn't whine about it, as you say, and dwell upon it. However, correct spelling and grammar are important to the English language, and they just stand proudly by it. Just as they cannot live on it forever, nor can you. Everyone has their own personality. We're only human. I'm not accusing anyone, nor defending, only telling you what I think to be true.

Well, it's just a matter of priorities. But it IS easier to read people's answers when they pay attention to spelling and grammar. Plus I think it is a sign of respect toward others when you make an effort to spell the best you can.

I am annoyed by people that cannot spell or punctuate their sentences correctly, or even make a complete sentence for that matter, because I am an educated adult that values intelligence.
