So many christians have told me to read my bible but I don't have one. I must admit I don't want one either it sounds like one of the most boring fiction books of all time. This guy walks around doing magic pretending to be the son of god oh dear he's dead. Oh wait oh no he isn't. Oh he's dead now. How boring does that book sound? Who else doesn't have a bible and doesn't want one?

Thank you, I have a Bible and it is very interesting..it is the greatest book ever written because it was inspired by God. You may wish one day that you had read and believed. I will pray for you.

Hey dude. Look I'm not religious, but I have a bible. I'm sure you are aware it's not all about Jesus, otherwise what field in Devon were you dragged up in, but it does make for quite interesting reading some of it, and also, if you actually read it then someone makes an off the cuff comment about Christianity or the Bible, then you can legitimately say, 'hang on a sec, I've read.. (fill in with appropriate book genesis, numbers etc) and it says that....' so you can look intelligent too, and impress them further still because you read it even tho religion isn't part of your life!

The bible is not a book of fiction - it is a book of accounts of human failure and triumphs in following God's laws. If you treat it as fiction then you are not likely to get much out of it. If you read it with trying to understand some of your own faults then you will succeed.

If the Bible is not your cup of tea, then try reading the Bhagavad-Gita (www.asitis.com) - this has very few historical accounts and much more pyschology - it's a real eye opener.

Good Luck

Hmm, let me see...I have the NEW INTERNATIONAL version, KING JAMES version, REVISED STANDARD version, NEW REVISED Standard version, GOOD NEWS Bible version, and oh, mustn't forget my GREEK-ENGLISH Interlinear version of the New Testament, as well as a whole gamut of OTHER versions on a CD-rom. And no, I'm not a theology major--I just LOVE the Bible.

For someone who has never read a page of it, you certainly have a lot of strong UNSUBSTANTIATED opinions about it.

There have many MANY ancient historical texts written with FAR LESS credibility, which are much respected by history scholars. The Bible also is and has been respected by some of the GREATEST MINDS of modern times--for example, the late American philosopher and former Editor-in-Chief of Encylopedia BRITANNICA, Mortimer J. ADLER.

This is for Chip010. Leave the Bibles in the Hotel rooms alone. If you don't want to read it, don't. When I travel, I don't take the Bible with me, but I read the bible in the Hotel room. Person like you kicked God out of School. Now you are after Hotels? I will be praying for you.

I don't have a bible, and like you, I don't want one. Besides, all the stories in it are hearsay i think. I think of it more like a piece of fiction than anything real. My grandma is always complaining that I dont' have a bible in my apartment, umm, yeah, and I hope to keep it that way. If anyone were to ever sneak one in there I wouldn't hesitate to throw it away. Besides, how many people have bibles but NEVER actually read the thing?

They might do bible's in pdf format. The latest version of Abode Reader can actually read the text in the document for you using the Microsoft Sam voice. So you might be able to get yourself a talking bible. Just a thought.

Antagonist!!! - friendly smile

Actually I follow an oral tradition (Inca Samanism) although I do keep several different holy books around for the energy that they carry.
And just for reference the bible IS full of 'stories', but there is a spiritual energy running through it that teaches a code of ethics that would benefit the world if they only understood it

Well, really that's only about four of the books in the bible that describe all that Jesus stuff, the rest is rteally quite interesting, but you really need one of those really new versions done for children with pictures. Makes for better reading.

The King James Version... boring as HELL
