Although when someone in uniform says, "Get over here now G.I.s!" he is talking about the soldiers and not their equipment.

It stands for Government Issue. All soldiers are property of the United States Government and are issued to their units. It also pertains to any equipment. Soldiers and their equipment are the same. They are all just a number in a book somewhere. (For administrative purposes only!) They do actually care for our well-being.

I feel the same way! I'd rather make a 20 second phone call than spend 2 minutes faffing with my phone. Texts are only good for leaving messages if someone's phone is off or no one answers because I don't like leaving voicemails.
