I'm pretty moody most of the time. I can go from happy to a complete bi$%* in .2 seconds. I'm always starting arguments and get a kick out of listening to other people's problems, because they always seem so petty. I'm happy during the day and depressed most of the night and morning and I hate waking up in the morning.

So - am I bipolar or just crazy?

As a certifiied health consultant, I assure you that if you go to 25 different doctors they will tell you 125 different things. Instead of thinking of yourself in diagnostical terms, maybe it would be better if you talked to someone who treats you as a whole person instead of someone who wants to split you up in a million different pieces, like a lot of doctors do. And the term "crazy" is played-out and unprofessional. If you do go to a doctor and you get a diagnosis of bi-polar or another related diagnosis, they probably won't tell you this, but what you need more than anything is genuine love. If you had genuine love in your life, you'd be surprised how good you'd feel. I warn you ahead of time though, that genuine love is hard to find, so in the meantime, if you feel like flipping out, more power to you. Maybe if more people did that, we would be forced to express true love to our human neighbors. Good luck to you!

Before you start thinking your bipolar or crazy do some soul searching. Why do you start arguments? Why do you behave petty? What is missing in your life that could be the cause of this but you don't realize it? There is an emotional need deep down or way in the back of your mind that is in control of this behavior. Next time you catch yourself acting petty or becoming a complete B in 2 seconds ask yourself, what is happening here. When i would get depressed there were times i would think there is no reason, after working on over coming depression and anxiety i learned there was always a reason. It could be simple as wanting a hug to just being tired. If you hate waking up in the morning, is it because there is nothing worth getting up for? If the answer is yes you could be depressed. If i said, find a reason to want to get up in the morning, it is easier said than done. Go to a doctor to find out exactly what is going on. For now write down how you wish you could feel and how you would like things to be in your life and then write down what is stopping you from achieving it. This exercise might help you discover more about your moods.

This is not the place to find that answer, for sure. I was diagnosed BP about 8 years ago... by a few psychiatrists... Do they know for sure? My behaviours were similar to what you describe, except that I had virtually NO down, depressions. UP up & more UP... I could drive a sane person wacky in less than 10 minutes, going from one subject to the next, with extreme coherency and intelligence. I'd be very charming, inquisitive, loud at times, tempermental... There are many "types" of BP, not everyone falls into the same class. There are many drugs/combinations that seem to treat the disorder, its a chemical imbalance, etc... Depakote is one (a mood stabilizer, anti-convulsant) Resperdal (anti-psychotic) and sooo many more. Some meds will work pothers may make ones condition unbearable. Personally I think that I have Aspergers syndrome, Indigo and a major case of being strange, weird, etc. THERE IS HOPE!!

Symptoms of BP-
1. Hyper speech (talking real fast)
2. Need for little or reduced sleep
3. Clutterred Mind
4. Excessive shopping
5. Grandiousity
6. Difficulty in Relationships
7. Intolerance / Impatience
8. The other side...
Too much sleep, depression and hopelessness

This info is from my experience only, no references just personal experience. I'm doing much better- can ya tell?

I wouldn't say that you are bi polar for sure, especially from growing up with a mother that is. Yes, that is one of the symptoms: extreme mood swings. Another one of the main symptoms is compulsive and impulsive shopping for really no reason, even if you don't have the money... I haven't seen you in action but I would say that you are probably depressed and extremely irritable. Maybe you are unhappy with something in your life so you are always trying to start arguments to take the focus off of your shortcoming and place them on some other issue. Maybe you need to re-evaluate and see what it is in your life that is making you so angry. I don't think your in a position to be listening to other peoples problems at the moment, at least until you get your figured out. Good luck!

Hmmm, depends on what causes it...it could be environmental like what's going on around you or it could be a chemical imbalance in your body. I know that when I start getting like that I am much better if I take some natural serotonin supplements from a health food store. There are also some amino-acid supplements that are great for calming peoples moods. Check out your local health food store, they can help a lot...or go see a doctor if you're more into prescriptions. Don't be so quick to diagnose urself so severely...sometimes it it something very small that can be fixed by something equally small.

If you are, that sounds like EXTREMELY-rapid cycling.

If you want the absolute facts about bipolar disorder, follow this link to the NMHA (National Mental Health Association) website. While there, you can read up on the symptoms and answer a series of questions that may or may not enable you to get a preliminary idea of whether or not you have bipolar disorder (or manic-depression as it was once called).

http://www.nmha.org/bipolar/index.cfm

At least this will help to identify whether or not you are bipolar.

If not, talk to a mental health care professional.
If not, talk to your physician.

Without knowing more about you, your diet, habits etc I'd guess you are not getting enough nutrient from your diet. Being moody at night may be due to fatigue, could also be a sign of Seasonal Affective Disorder. Talk to your doctor, he'll have a better idea....

Im the same way sometimes, It doesnt mean you are bipolar you could be dealing with depression, maybe you should talk to your family doctor about this, the could probably prescribe you something that can level you out alittle.

Get to your doctor and get checked out, mood swings can be caused by all sorts of different things, from hormone imbalances to diabetes to depression. Make an appointment for a complete physical.

there is more to being bi polar than mood swings...there is the behavior's that are not at all like your normal behavior's ( like a completly faithful person could decide to just cheat and then does not know why) there is the spending spree's where you just have to spend money it makes you happy and you don't know why and you buy things that don't make any since, a perfectly calm quiet person can all of a sudden become psychotic...there are alot of factors when dealing with bi polar behavior...if you just have mood swings your lucky!
