My 9 month old kitten isn't well at the moment, she was perfectly fine until last night she was sick in the garden. She wouldn't even move to come in the back door, so I had to lift her. She went straight into her nights sleep. When I checked her litter tray it was full of diarrhea. This morning when I checked on her, she just wasn't herself at all, not drinking or eating, not wanting to move she slept all day and was not full of life. I took her to the vet a few hours ago, she gave her medicines and said she had a temp, sore abdomen and was dehydrated. The vet thought that she could have licked bird poo and this caused her sickness but she wasn't totally sure.

So I guess I am trying to ask, has any other cat owners experienced this sickness with your cat/kitten?

Thanks

Keep her inside... away from heat or windows... if you can check her temp... a normal cat's temp is 100.5 to 102.5. If it hotter than that place a ice pack near the cat, NOT on the cat... you don't want the temp to come down too rapidly; recheck temp every 15 min. Also replace the water bowl with a bowl full of pedialyte
(you can find it in the baby isle) (do not give a kitten Gatoraide because the sugar content will be to high for it.) . Give her the medication as directed by the vet. And give her time. Hopefully she does not have anything fatal like feline leukemia or feline aids.

Sure, my cat had an upset stomach a couple of months ago. I don't know how it happened and the vet couldn't tell either. A little medicine and he's all better.

If you're worried about what your kitten is ingesting, keep her inside. She's just a kitten and can get into a lot of trouble outside.

My cat died recently, and a vet at the emergency clinic told me that cats cannot go without food very long. Not like a dog, or people. They can become sick quickly and die. While you are trying to find out what is wrong with kitty, make sure she gets enough food to maintain her weight. Even if it means force feeding. Don't wait for the vet to tell you when to force feed, it might be too late for that. That is what happened with my cat.

I had this example with interior cats. We were given a cat that appeared completely wholesome. Then he were given an top respiration situation with a similar indications you defined. the different cats began getting ill and then he were given better appropriate. yet then he were given ill again, were given properly, were given ill, were given properly. He never were given as ill as the different cats, although. Our vet stated he replaced right into a "service" for this actual virus and would never be in a position to remove it, and he could be in a one-cat domicile, which we did locate for him. (He replaced right into a captivating black lengthy-haired scottish fold). My different cats ultimately all were given properly, yet i finished up spending $1100 on vet charges, which I paid in installments over many months. So what we do now is isolate any new cat we get for a minimum of five weeks. also, if any cat receives ill it proper this second is going into isolation in yet another room. We were stupid no longer to isolate the newbie and it gained't ensue again. we will nevertheless rescue cats yet we will be smarter about it. it really is completely harder to administration outside cats because you may't isolate the ill ones.

I have 4 cats, and out of the 4, 3 have FLV which is pretty much kitty aids.
It's so scary when your little one is sick! They can't tell you what's going on, and of course with our worry, we always assume it's the worse.

But alas, ALL little ones, (kids included) will be little ones and get into things they shouldn't and get sick.

I'm sure she'll be fine, just baby her a whole bunch until she's back to her old self.

Try another vet, and I mean right this minute; it sounds like your cat has been poisoned or has cat flu, and either way needs help very, very fast. Your cat is very, very ill, and I wish you both all the luck in the world.
