He was probably a Semitic, He lived in a Semitic region, during a time when Semitic peoples lived there.

Probably a reflection of the artist. Besides, does it matter what Jesus actually looked like. The Lord created humans in His image, and there are many images of humankind! None is incorrect.

One least complicated has to look to the bible to appreciate this. the style new testomony includes better than basically a average grievance of the Jews. in reality, it particularly is incredibly anti-Jewish. it is real that some Christians shield that the style new testomony attack on the Jews interior reason average. yet, how gentle is the "bloody value," a assertion that places upon the Jews guilt for the completed righteous blood ever shed upon the earth (Matthew 23:35), or a spurious self-condemnation wherein the Jewish persons supposedly take upon themselves and their offspring an eternal blame for the shortcoming of existence of Jesus (Matthew 27:25), or a announcement that the Jews are the babies of the devil (John 8:40 4) and that the Jews are a "synagogue of devil" (Revelation 2:9, 3:9). Paul summed up the denunciation of the Jews with the inflammatory announcement that the Jews are "unfavorable to all adult adult males" (one million Thessalonians 2:15). the style new testomony became as quickly as written by utilising way of-and-super for Gentiles and institutionalized an anti-Judaic subject for its visitors. It distorted and fictionalized events with a objective to portray the Jews, all Jews who do no longer settle for Jesus, as evil and responsible for his death. the innovations-set of the hot testomony authors in the direction of the Jews is amazingly clean. the hot testomony references beef up this reality: Matthew 8:12 Jews solid into outer darkness Matthew 23:37,38 Jerusalem killed the prophets Mark 13:9 in synagogues you'll be overwhelmed John 8:40 3, 40 seven you're of your father, the devil...you at the instant are not of G-d Acts 7:51-fifty 3 persecute prophets; betrayers & murderers Acts 13:40 5-51 Jews reject notice of G-d, so turn to Gentiles Titus one million:10-14 they of circumcision...might desire to be stopped John sixteen:2, 3 whoever kills you will evaluate he does G-d a service Matthew 8:10-12 young ones of kingdom solid into outer darkness Luke 20:9-sixteen, Matt 13:36-40 3, and Luke 19:12-27 are parables which communicate of Gentiles inheriting the dominion of Heaven on an identical time Jews are solid into Hell.

No one really knows what Jesus looked like. There were no pictures drawn of him while he was here on earth. There was never a portrait of him. The odds are that he had dark skin and was muscular. Look at the location where he was. Does anyone really believe that he was white? The man was a carpenter so he definately had muscles.

Nobody has ever taken a picture of Jesus. Portraits are only what men think He looked like. The Bible is the only source that we have on what He looked like.
Jesus came to earth to be a prophet, priest, and a King to the Nation of Israel. It was not until they rejected him and had him killed did he turn to the whole world.

While He was on earth he looked like a priest or rabbi, (or else a ruler of Israel would have never called him Rabbi) John 3:2—“he same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.” When Jesus was on the earth he told the people to keep the Law of Moses.

So he would have looked like an Old Testament priest.
The priests were not to shave their heads nor let their hair grow long, but to keep it trimmed.

Ezekiel 44:20---“ Neither shall they shave their heads, nor suffer their locks to grow long; they shall only poll their heads.”

Priests could not shave off the corner of their beards, so they would cut it off at the end straight across

Leviticus 21:5---“They shall not make baldness upon their head, neither shall they shave off the corner of their beard, nor make any cuttings in their flesh.”

The priests could not round the corners of their heads, so they would have to cut a place for their ears

Leviticus 19:27---“Ye shall not round the corners of your heads, neither shalt thou mar the corners of thy beard.”

Paul wrote by inspiration of the Holy Spirit and he told the church today that it was a shame for a man to have long hair and not only is it a sin against God, but also against nature.

I Corinthians 11:14---“Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?”

Well in paintings that I have seen of Jesus they protrayed him as a non-bearded man with relatively light skin, contradicting the area of where he lived where he probably would look more Arabic to be honest. I've seen many ideas on how he may have appeared but I have nothing to be sure of from all the variations. My only guess is that he looked like your average man from that area expect with a not-so-average mind/purpose.

What a retarded question!! you ask why jesus does not look jewish. judaism is a religion and consists of beliefs and traditions. how would that make a person look any way? grow up and learn something about anti sematism before you start asking questions about religion which you obviously know nothing about.

In revelations, Jesus is describeb as a bright light figure with a sword coming from his mouth. There is a very long description but I can't remember it all. I know that no one knows for sure what he looked like. The images you see of him are just someones opinion.

I have seen JESUS portrayed as white, and as black.

I am amused that people get hung up on this. JESUS didnt want us to be hung up on HIS looks. HE was here to spread the Word of GOD, HIS FATHER, and ours too.

When we seek to "hold" something, like a portrait of HIM, or a statue of HIM, then, we forget the Spiritual nature of our LORD. THAT is what HE wanted us to focus on, the Spiritual aspect, because Heaven is not on Earth, nor in the physical realm. Its in the Spiritual realm that JESUS is ruling in now. Though, HE is in charge of Heaven AND Earth at this time, we are to be Spiritual in nature and not hold onto things that will negate our Faith.

When you hold onto an object, you feel, and see it. it is tangable. When you cant hold onto an object, and just "know" that HE is there, then you have to have "Faith" because HE is not here in the physical sense, that you can go up and shake HIS hand.

I hope that means what I tried to convey...

I wish you well...

Jesse

Along this same line, I wonder which image is the oldest? I would guess that the oldest is the most accurate. Is it in the Vatican? Were images of Jesus always approved? Lots to ponder here.
