Tom Cruise belongs to the Church of Scientology. This church has beliefs that are very different from christian beliefs and if you really want an explanation of it, you should do some independant study rather than asking here. Religion can be a very political issue.

Tom Cruise practices "Scientology;" a religion whose "bible" is known as the book "Dianetics" by L Ron Hubbard.
It is an interesting religion with some valid points on the actual application but is based on some extremely whacked out ideas (such as that we are really all aliens that got lost on this planet and we're trying to find our way back home).
