Cards, letters, a subscription to a magazine or newspaper, a visit... all these things are precious beyond explaining when you're locked up.

They say that it's the thought that counts, so why not make him a card saying that you forgive him, or make him something special that you took your time and made. Not something that you could go out and buy. Your father must care a lot about you and he probubly wants to get out of jail for his family. He probubly regrets what he did, so you should forgive him. I think something homemade is a good idea.

if he smokes cigs are always good or put money on his books, or a TV or just a nice picture of yourselves and a letter of how much he is loved. I think a cake with a file in it might be out of the question though.(wink wink nudge nudge)

A really nice card and if you can visit him and let him know how much you love him no matter what. He'll really appreciate it. And ignore those jerks who leave the crude comments

Write him a nice, loving letter, and include a poem you wrote him all by yourself. If you get to visit him, read it to him. Take him some candy, whatever he likes, and then share it with him. Good Luck!
