why is it that we create sick, unique punishments for the inhabitants of hell, but when it comes to heaven we just picture lights, harps, and cloud?

I've noticed that hell seems to be more interesting than heaven but I couldn't say why except the human capacity for being contrary maybe.

We seem to have a better understanding of Hell because it is in our nature. Yet we continue to bask in evil and defy God. We can never understand the true Glory of God so we try to define with the things of this world. It just does not work, nothing of this world could ever compare to what we are going to face when we meet God. Then again, death is eternal, so there is a larger focus on the negative aspects of it. When it is too hot to go outside do you say Its cool, I am going to stay in here, or do you say its way too hot, there is no way I am going out there. Six of one, half a dozen of the other.

Fear...... People love fear. I believe that unsaved people focus on hell more but when your are saved there is nothing to fear, Im not going to be in hell and I do not choose to fill my mind with fear by thinking about it all the time. Hell is very real, when you are walking with Jesus he will show you things .... I do not even know where to begin this is a big question to answer in a paragraph but I think I summed it up

The only people this is advantageous to is; Satan, false believers,
and those poking fun at people for believing in a 'God of Love'
who will burn them forever for 60 years of not doing what God wanted them to do. Not a fair punishment by even imperfect human standards. Can you imagine, burning your
child as a form of punishment? If that seems disgusting, why do people believe God would do it?

I think part of it is that some evangelists talk a lot about hell being bad because they don't want people to go there!!
Also, in the Bible, Jesus talked more about hell than he did about heaven.

because we want you to make the right choice by choosing Heaven. where do you want to go to? Somewhere that there will be teeth biting and angry people and burning for eternity, or somewhere that the streets are gold and we will worship God for eternity, without tears ever coming again?

Because most people cannot picture true and utter happiness and joy that Heaven will be.

We are generally a miserable people.

The greatest trick the Devil ever played, was to convince us that Hell, and Himself, does not exist...therefore, in everyday life, people tend to make fun of it, whether it be in form of curse,(dammed) or fun even (..you can go to hell, for eating my soup)..and most believe in a higher power (God), so they don't want to take any chances of making God mad..even when they say 'God damm it'..which of course is wrong (this is Beelzebubs doing) calling the name of the LORD in swear ( Jesus Christ !! why did you do that ?? ) is also Beelze's work...keep the faith, God is watching.
ps: Jesus' last name is not Christ, Christ is latin, from Christie, meaning: "The Chosen One"
