Absolutely not for curing stomach ailments. All alcohol corrodes the stomach lining and irritates the digestive system.

As far as breaking a fever, yes and no, but mostly no. Alcohol causes blood vessels in the skin to dilate, bringing more blood to the surface. That's why some people feel hot or blush when they drink. Although all that blood makes you feel hot, you're actually loosing body heat as the blood cools through the skin. That could reduce a fever.

At the same time, alcohol is a powerful diurectic (makes you have to pee) and causes serious dehydration. Most of the effects of a hangover are due to dehydration. People with high fevers are typically already dehydrated. The effects of alcohol will make them MORE dehydrated, with raises the fever. Any short term effects of heat loss through capillary dilation would almost certainly be lost in the long run.
