Beyond Belief: A Buddhist Critique of Fundamental Christianity — A. L. De Silva.

The purpose of this book is threefold. Firstly it aims to critically examine the fundamentalist approach to Christianity and thereby highlight its many logical, philosophical and ethical problems. The second aim of this book is to help fundamentalist Christians who might read it to understand why some people are not and will never be Christians. The third aim of this book is to awaken in Buddhists a deeper appreciation for their own religion.

Why God Cannot Exist

A Critique of The Bible

Well actually this book is made for Buddhism, but I think it’s relevant for all people to read it. For all religion follower including Christian too, atheist, scientist, satanist, jews, paganist, new age, etc.

I have just started reading what you've recommended, and I must thank you for showing me this. It looks very interesting, and as an atheist/Buddhist I think that I will agree with many of the book's ideas. Thank you.

First of all, a good Buddhist does not critique any religion, for all people are on the journey to Enlightenment and it takes countless lifetimes to reach Nirvana. Karma places us forward or backward on the Path depending on our actions and lessons learned in previous lifetimes. Buddhist are simply more spiritually advanced. Secondly, fundamentalist Christians are unlikely to read Beyond Belief:.. simply to find out why some people wont become Christians. The problem I have with Christianity is their insistence of converting everyone to their way of thinking and their intolerance of other beliefs. Buddhist don't want to convert anyone to Buddhism but all who seek Enlightenment are welcome to learn Buddhist principles and the Path to Enlightenment. Lastly, Buddhism is NOT a religion, it is the Pathway to Enlightenment. God can be considered being One with the Universe, Cosmic Consciousness or Nature but God is not the Creator.

You seem desperate to find a reason not to believe in God. Your whole question is just a bunch of made-up, meaningless babble. The Bible is inconsistent, error-laden, interpolated and ambiguous, therefore God isn't perfect?? Really?? The Bible was written nearly 2,000 years ago by imperfect people who witnessed and experienced God, and then roughly translated into English. GOD DIDN'T WRITE THE BIBLE. And just because something isn't perfect, doesn't mean it doesn't exist. That makes no sense. And atheists think that Christians are the illogical ones..... smh God IS perfect; your logic is far from perfect.

buddhism MAY be a simpler and saner approach to spirituality than fundamentalist anything...but the true question of sprituality, as i see it, is not one of whether or not there is a god or how do we attain a true understanding of and real communication with such a being. the true question of spirituality is how do we reach and communicate with the god that is ourselves? how does one reach inside oneself and discover the god within, and then, by extension, discover the god within everything? this is my spiritual quest and i am not concerned in the least with a creator or "higher" power....i do not know nor care about the existance of such a creature. i believe that the fundamentalist god is a megalomaniac and would rather not believe that such a god exists than to believe our fate is at the discretion of an insane super power....

I don't think the sort of people who find Fundamentalism appealing spend much time worrying about logical and philosophical issues.
