Why is Yahoo promoting gay pride? I find it offensive. People are free to explore their sexuality in private. But I don’t think it’s appropriate to publicize it. For those who are wondering why I am asking this question, it’s on Yahoo’s main page!

I’m not faulting gays; people have the right to chose for themselves. But I don’t think its right to publicize sexual orientations to the general media, mainly because of children. You don’t publicize S&M, fetishes or even strait sex. So why is it so important to publicize gay pride?

Once again, this is not about gay rights, it’s about media rights.

I agree. Sex & sexual topics should be discreet. Not discussed publicly unless there's full consent to do so. Otherwise, it's inappropriate.

While I don't see any outward signs that Yahoo! is promoting gay pride, if they are, it's probably because they know the gay/bi/lesbian sector have a huge amount of disposable income and that can only work to their benefit. For the same reason that Disneyland did not succumb to the religious right when it came to certain issues - simply put, a queen with a platinum card will do a business much better than a child with a jar of pennies from saved allowance. Sorry to be brutally honest, but for what it's worth...

Then I advise you not to ever show any display of affection in public...it offends me too!! I wish others would take it indoors..but that just isnt the case here...when only one sexual more' is benefiting from life..then its time to ask the hard questions...like "What is it that Im being sold on"..and stuff like that!!

Although this "Gay Pride" thing your so against only has its bearings in a few LARGE Metropolitan areas...I guess you feel left out..so go get married..have kids...get life insurance together..as well as do your taxes together...and ask yourself...."I wonder what those that dont have the same rights as I do are doing tonight"???

Then..sleep tight!! And hope your son or daughter doesnt have that pesky ol "Gay gene"?? OOps..I made a Boo Boo...LOL!!

A persons sexual preferences are a private matter, but if a particular segment of society has been targeted or victimized, I think Yahoo is just taking some social responsibility to try and educate the masses, to maybe address that problem.
Personally, some of the brightest people I know are gay or bi - I am from the media.\

I think only America has the whole gay pride phenomen, which I find ironic since we are the least accepting. Most countries don't flaunt gay pride. They just view it as something natural, so natural that they feel there is no need to shove it down people's faces. I was reading an interview of a homosexual Vientenese man who said that only Americans view sexual orientation as such an intergral part of a person. That's why homosexual Americans feel the need to have a gay pride. I don't have heterosexual pride, but then again I do have a pride in my African-American heritage. I think it's a complex of always trying to prove your legtimacy that we opressed people (or formerly oppressed)seem to have...

But to answer your question I don't see yahoo overly promoting gay pride...

Yeah. I have nothing against it, but think about the children! If they learned about it at like (I'm not saying don't know about it until you're like 20 or something) 6 or something, and learn how other people use it (EX: That shirt is so gay!) it wouldn't be very good... Then again, the news shows it, teliviosn, news papers...all kinds of media.

Not in any form of defense for yahoo or gay pride, but logically if things are not know to us than how can we make a decision to stand for or against.

How does Yahoo promote gay pride? And why is this in the religion and spirituality section?

No one brought this up to me today but since you did I will let you know
I LIKE BEING WITH PEOPLE THAT ARE THE SAME SEX AS ME!!!!! I AM PROUD OF WHO I AM!!!!
It has nothing to do with who I sleep with. I am proud of who I am as a soul and how much I have learned in this life. I don't care what you think about my sexual preference. If you don't like being with people that are the same sex as you I would advise you not to do it.

If the Gays wanna go public, then go public they will.
We need to learn to deal with it.
YOU chose to click that link, and YOU chose to dislike it.
Just because you don't like it doesn't make it wrong.
Just because I don't mind what other people do doesn't make it right.

How are they promoting it? and so what dont read or take part of it. How is it any different than Black History month, Christmas, Easter, just because you don't agree with it they cant have their right to express their freedom. You dont live up to their standards so why should they live up to yours?
