Right now the "in" hairstyle for the summer is getting your hair chopped right at the chin. Another cute style is getting a short ,cute bob. That way you can fix your hair, but you don't have to work on it for an hour. You might not be able to put it in a ponytail for a while, but you said yourself that you want to get rid of the pony tail. That's the way my hair is now ,cut short in a cute bob. It really is cute and you're not so sweaty in the summer because your hair is too long. It is very convieniant on a hot sweaty day.Try it.

I would suggest go to a hair salon for a consultation, most are free, Tell them you are thinking about changing your still but you a little nervous and would like to know what styles are best suited to your shape face.
Believe it or not some styles are better suited to specific face types, meaning the shape of your face i.e. the round, oval, pear etc.
Take a look at their hairstyle magazines see what’s there and what you like and ask about it. Be to convey want exactly you are looking for and what your boundaries are, mainly if you want it cut but not so short that you cannot put it in a ponytail, or whether or not you going to be adventurous and just cut it in the style of choice regardless of length. Remember that you are the boss and the stylist work for you should you choose to use them so they have to work within the parameters that you give them.
The other option is to go to one of those books stores that allow you to sit and read (Indigo) and take a look at the hairstyle mags until you hit upon something that tickles your fancy.
You can use both options also going to the salon for the consultation, learning about your face type, do and don'ts of what works and what does not and then take those tips with you to the book store and browse through the mags until you find a style that works for you and that you can live with everyday.

Pigtails on the back sides of your head, but instead of letting your hair just go down, do messy buns in each of them. I used to do that and everyone commented on it, it was my style..

A loose bun, or put it in a butterfly clip. Take a section from the front and clip it back to give yourself a little quiff.

two buns, not princess laya style, but two buns at the base of your neck, it's easy and quick.
look around at some of the girls at school and try to do some of theirs or come up with your own style.

You should go for the Lara Croft look (French braid). You can look sexy by letting the fringe go during classes and pin it back up with bobby pins during PE/sports lessons.

To get hairstyles, I get my ideas from tv. I'm like, 'that hairstyle is cute' so I just use it. If that doesn't work, surf the internet.
