Excuse my crudeness, but imagine shitting out a turd the size of a watermelon. Do you think your *** would be sore? That's what having a baby is like, only it's your vagina that's sore. Also, your uterus is contracting so hard, it's excrutiating. Imagine the worst menstrual cramps you can, and multiply the pain of them by about 100.
Oh, and to lordspeed...Can I assume by your picture that you're a man. I'd like to know just exactly when it was you gave birth to a baby? You have absolutely no idea. The fact that you would even answer this question is so utterly ridiculous to me, I can't fathom it. Are you mentally handicapped, maybe? God help your wife if she ever gives birth. If you have a wife, that is. If women will even sleep with you.

watermelon through a peanut hole? Give me a break! This question is not smug, it make perfictly good sense to ask.
Does this conversation ring a bell to anyone?
Girl: "Woman can take more pain then men."
Guy: "No they can't"
Girl: "just think about pushing a grapefruit through your pee hole"
Now this is where I reply with a tiny slice of LOGIC.
Me: "Well if my penis was made to do this, then I suppose Id have to suffer the same, BUT OVER A BILLION BABYS HAVE BEEN BORN! and nobody that I have ever heard of has died from the pain. I broke my forearm in junior high school. Tearing flesh naturely to have a baby vs unaturely breaking a bone? What about getting shot? Do you think the pain of getting your legg blown off? Do you think that surviving an explosion is any less painful than having a baby? I guess the ones who comepletly disagree with me out of spite are the same one's that believe that the insides of dogs mouth is cleaner than peoples, or moths can smell things 75 miles away. After watching my dog eat his own feces, and watching moths getting eaten by birds they should have smelt miles away I just remind myself to not believe everything I hear. In this case, pain is another cycle of life. It sucks.

You try pushing a watermelon through an opening the size of a grape and see if you get sore. There's a lot going on physically during childbirth. The contractions are the muscles of the uterus pushing the baby out. Ouch. Then there's the vaginal walls expanding suddenly so the baby can fit through. Double ouch. Then there's the tearing at the vaginal opening because it simply can't expand anymore. Get the point?

Are you serious!! You try it then tell me if it's painful or not. Why do you think people get epidurals? Let me tell you it's not because they like having long needles jabbed into their back, or because they enjoy the risk of being paralyzed. Think of having the worst cramps ever, then pushing something that can weigh up to 12 pounds out of a small opening! Childbirth is very very painful, but rewarding..

I have had 3 children, all at home with a midwife using natural birth. I guess I hesitate to use the word "pain". I would have to say it was more like work. Before my first baby was born I went to birthing classes and I remember my midwife describing labor as being about as much work as climbing a mountain.
We learned about everything that was going to happen in our classes before the baby was born so that we would know what to expect. I would quiz some of the women who had already had babies to try to explain what it was like.
So, during labor I was not afraid. I had prepared well during the nine months leading up to the birth. I had paid careful attention to my diet eating only the healthiest foods knowing that my diet was affecting the baby. I did special exercises to get strong muscles in preparation for labor and it really, really paid off.
When labor finally started I was mentally and physically ready to go for it. We had special breathing techniques that help to control the process and my coach/husband was there every step of the way to hold my hand and give support. Some women don't have a husband but do have someone they have chosen to be their coach & support person.
I really loved having my babies at home. It was safe, serene and supportive. They were not exposed to the staff & strep germs that hospitals are notorious for. The midwife came to me when it was time rather than me having to transport myself elsewhere.
I feel sorry for most of the women who I have shared birth stories with because their stories of hospital births are full of trauma... being hooked to monitors, shots, drugs, episiotomy, stress, unfamiliar surroundings, having to fight their doctors to be able to keep their birth plans, having unfamiliar doctors show up, and on and on...
And, finally, the body is amazing in that it produces its own pain relieving hormones during labor. Truely, I don't remember much 'pain' as much as the work that was involved. They say that the mind is able to 'forget' the pain too.

why wont u try taking medicine so you wont have all the pain of releasing a 6 pound baby. then try when the child wont come out of u while u r alredy hurting inside. it feels as though someone took a hamme and put it inside u. and do a hammer look like it could come out of u very easily. all you feel is ur baby's head pushing on your private area. and some doctor putting his hand inside your butt to takethe child out. then some kids are deformed so that would hurt even more. and some kids are overdue and stay in you longer. and some are born prematurely. so i dont think you should be asking that question again cause when a woman is having a baby and there is alot of stress its even more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was told by my obstetrician years ago that the contractions are like 50 pounds of pressure! When I told that to my husband, he said "wow, that's got to really hurt!" As everyone else has stated here, you are pushing a very large object out of a very small opening; which is also, by nature, very sensitive! Ouch. I've also read that at the end of the birthing process, the woman feels as if she is drowning. I've never had the experience of drowning, but do remember feeling very helpless and trapped.

Have you ever had a baby?
It is painful because you have a baby that is about 20-22 in. long and anywhere between 5-10lbs. coming out of you. Do you not know how babies are born?

Each pregnancy is different, so is each labor. If you had it easy, then I'm glad for you. Some are in hard, painful labor for as long as 24 hours and are totally exhausted by the time they need to push.
