My husband and I were watching a movie, and I realized that something was coming on tv shortly and I wanted to check it out. I asked my husband for the tv remote, but he decided to change the channel instead of just passing the remote to me. I asked him why he wouldn't give the remote to me, he then asked me why do i have to give you remote? After the bickering he told me that he did that just to see if I would let him change the channel or if I would get fussy about not getting the TV remote myself. Why would he cause this arguement when we were having a nice time? What was he trying to do or prove?

I would bet that something else is bothering him, and you triggered an emotion. It doesn't mean that there is any deep seated issue, and it doesn't mean there isn't. In situations like that, I ignore the instance and bring it up later in a neutral and non condemning manner. Then I see how the individual reacts once removed from the situation emotionally.

Why the hell is something like the TV remote such a big deal? Is it really worth arguing over? Sounds like a deeper issue to me.

He's using the male intuition of CONTROL. He wants to be in control of the remote and testing how you react to it. If you're a liberal woman you'd DEMAND the control of the remote and show self-respect. If you're a Con woman, you'll accept it as is.

This conflict is a cover up for a deeper emotional conflict that you two have, I recommend you watch Dr. Phil together to figure out what the heck is wrong with you two.

It's a control issue, he probably thinks you are too controlling of him or inconsiderate because he couldn't finish his movie. You should buy a PVR (digital video recorder) - it eliminates a lot of these issues

I fail to see where it is that big of a deal. Maybe he just likes to be in control. Men love remote controls...I dunno.
