Why do so many people admit interest in spiritual things...but show no interest in church. What has the church done to turn off so many people?

because we are so used to be entertained in our culture...not to mention the fact that we are completely overstimulated all the time...movies billboards radios cell phones....in church you're supposed to be quiet and focus on one thing for a long period of time and that is hard given our multitasking lives these days...especially when multitasking is generally a prized quality in a good worker...just not in a good church goer necessarily

Because people that go think about the millions of other things they can be doing throughout the day while their stuck in church. Another is because sometimes you cant understand what the person reading from the bible is saying. Another thing is that some peeps are forced to go by their parents, no one likes going somewhere by force. Also i thin because the atmosphere is church is mostly hot and humid, so it makes people go to sleep.

Because they don't actually want to take the time to actively participate in the service by paying attention, thinking of how they can apply the sermon and the scripture to their life, or what they can do with this new knowledge.

The church has done nothing wrong, it is the people doing it to themselves. Why do you blame the church when we should all take responsibility for our own actions?

Institutionalized Dogma...."we will tell you what to think, how to act..." with so many institutions being found fraudulent in so many ways...folks are smarter than to buy into institution's PR ...besides...many people view spirituality as being a relationship between themselves and the universe....there really is no need for an intermediary such as a church.

Traditional rituals!
There are so many Cool Churches out there.
Up lifting through the music, the spirit of the speaker, etc.
It may take awhile but search around.
It's better to find somewhere that you FEEL the spirit, the die in the un-spirit!

Going to church is going to worship the Lord.

If you think church is boring, try going with a different attitude; to worship God. Church isn't for going to see what YOU can get out of it.

Try this: take all the things that God has blessed you with this week and offer them up in thanks and praise when you go to church. Remember, it's not about you... it's about God. Focus on Christ and what he did for you at Calvary. seek only to honor Him and I promise, it won't be "church as usual".

I believe in God and try to follow his teachings, but I truely hate going to church.
I stopped going because I was embaressed about fallng asleep during sermons.
It all depends on how you live your life. Not on how much you go to church.
