You can get the citronella candles and they even have them in a big bucket size. Any kind of smoke will make them go away. There are alot near where I live where there is a river. So when we want to go outside we put on the repellent (skin so soft), some work and some don't but we also buy the torches with the citronella candles in them and stake them all around the front of the house or in a large circle of the area we'll be at. It works.

Go with Smartguys answer. It's true! My mother was told I had a vitamin B deficiency at an office visit some 40 years ago and put me on B-Complex vitamins after giving me a shot of same. It worked! Now, if I am in an environment with mosquitoes, I take the vitamin B. Simply Curious, NC

Citronella candles only work if your sitting right by them and results in fewer bites but you will still get bit.
Citronella on your skin is a litte more effective.
Skin so soft only lasts about on hour.
If it's not hot out you can were heavier long sleaves and pants. But if you're getting bit up, just go inside. If sour sitting outside try a fan blowing across the area your in.

Actually, I've heard that eating garlic makes your body exude a chemical mosquitoes don't like... Lemon and lemon grass scents also work well. If you have any soybean oil, that's the active ingredient in a lot of organic bug sprays. I've read that it works almost as well as synthetic sprays.

Good luck. I am one of those people who draws mosquitoes away from any other living being within a 25-mile radius. I have tried every possible remedy. They say 100% Deet works but it also can have side effects.
