Keep in mind that these are your EYES you're talking about. Yeah, you could go to the place that does Lasik and has a coin-op laundry in back because it's cheaper, but I wouldn't recommend it. You're not looking for a "sale"-- you're looking for a pro.
It's a very odd procedure. Strangely claustrophobic, I would say. They do offer valium if you need it to calm your nerves if you need it. I wasn't bothered by it, but it is a little surreal.
Before having it done yourself, go to a surgeon that has a type of fish-bowl operating room. This way you can watch the procedure being done while standing in the lobby. It helps calm your nerves a little.

Best thing I ever did for myself. I work in the business do there are lots of things that can go wrong but most complications are very rare and the more common complications(such as dry eye, infection, and under/over correction) can be easily treated. Most patients that need a retreatment or an enhancement need it not because the doctor messed up but because the patients eye healed differently than the average eye. If the eyes were made of plastic, we could treat 100 patients and get 100 perfect results. Because we are working with living tissue, we don't always get the results we thought we would. You need to find a surgeon who has done thousands of surgeries. Don't go to the cheapest place in town just to save some cash. The doctors that advertise "The cheapest LASIK in town" are discounting for a reason. Do you really want WalMart brand LASIK or Nordstrom brand LASIK. Both surgeons may have the same results but then again, ... If you are interested in LASIK, see your local Ophthalmologist. They can either do the surgery if youa re comfortable with them or you can be referred to a surgeon by them if they do not perform the surgery. If you want some referrals, let me know and I can use my sources to find a good doc for you.

I had Custom Lasik a week ago & I'm loving it! I was near-sighted with a touch of astigmatism & have need glasses for over 20 years.
I'm now 20/15. My procedure was painless, no discomfort at all.
Research the providers in your area & talk to people who used them. If you can find anyone ask the facility for references.
Good luck with whatever you decide!

Totally pleased. Be sure to ask about what can be done to prevent halos or starbursts around lights at night. That's the only side effect, along with some dryness that I've experienced.
Worth every penny after wearing glasses for 19 years.

Had about 4 years ago and LOVE IT!!
Be sure you go to a reputible doctor and ask for references....DO NOT go to one of those places in the mall!!
Painless and worth every cent...I would do it again in a heartbeat!
Good Luck!

Remember it is SURGERY
and remember the motivation of the people selling it to you.
You must do your own research - this decision is too important to leave to a bunch of anonymous yahoos.

Just make sure you ask for references. My dad has his done and the doctor screwed up.
My uncle had to have his done twice.
Go to a specialist... not some fly by night doctor.
