I believe immigration is a great thing. i would not be American if immigration was not allowed. My father immigrated here form Canada. But do it by the laws in places. You come to a country for a better life but start it off by breaking laws of that country. Citizens will not and do not look kindly on this. If you do not respect the country or it's people, how do you expect them to respect you??

I was born in the USA, but I now live, retired, in Mexico. It does give me a bit of a differing perspective, I cross the border rather frequently between Mexico and the USA. There are bus loads of Mexicans crossing 24/7. They must be legal, because an immigration officer checks them, I wish I knew how they got legal. If there was an easy way to be legal, I cannot help but believe that most of the people looking for work would choose to do it legally. Then, the only ones who crossed illegally would be the criminal element. Might make it easier to control things.
Personally, I think all of this media hype about hating Mexicans is smoke and mirrors to keep citizens of the US off balance and distracted by fantasy so that we do not notice the reality that we have fewer rights ourselves, including the right to move about freely. Have you found your recent desire to travel frustrating and expensive?
I am sorry to have to tell you this, but I have more freedom living in Mexico than I had living in the US and that was before 9/11, it is even worse now. The system of law here in Mexico is quite different, I was surprised to learn. The accountability is on you here. If you get hurt, it is your fault, not the negligence of someone else. It you are accused of a crime here you are considered guilty until you can prove you are innocent. If you get sent to jail, you will not be fed unless your friends and relatives bring you food.
All Mexican immigrants are raised in this social order. They do not expect the government to protect them from their own selves the way we do. They have a more basic understanding of personal accountability than we do. They expect to take care of themselves and each other much more than we do. Their families provide the social services that we expect from our government.
I cannot help but believe that we are being manipulated in our ignorance of the Mexican culture to hate something that does not exist. If we did not have work for them why do they find jobs available? Could we really get along without them? How much do any of us want to be out in the hot sun picking the produce for our grocery stores? I actually tried this in the 60's when I was young, at it is NO FUN. I love living in Mexico, I think we should let all the Mexicans who want to go to the US go, and instead of complaining, move to MEXICO ourselves.

Right now we are in time of war. No one should be allowed in our country without being heavily screened. I also think that any and all Immigants should be photoed and fingerprinted if they are going to be able to stay in this country, AND they need to learn English and American History. You you want American Rights then you need to be an American citizen. These immigrants act like we're the ones in the wrong here...Did we sneak out of our country and into thier country or did they do it to us??? This is my country...NOT theirs!

I live in an apartment complex with 13 apartments, where there are alot of hispanic people and people who are low income. I can count on one hand how many people in my building have a job! Two of them are me and my boyfriend! What angers me the most is we have immigrants coming to America and getting State and Federal assitance while there are still Americans getting State and Federal assistance while I work my A*S off to support them all. I'm sick of it. I want to own a home someday, I want the American Dream and I have to watch out my window at all these low lives who don't work and collect the money that I pay in taxes. I don't want to have to give more of my money to IMMIGRANTS TOO!!!

I went a little off track here but I couldn't help it! =)

We can fix it by closing the borders till our leaders get their heads out of their butts, they think nothing of asking Iran to do the same for for nuclear fuel.

Optalia, the whole of the Mexican population has no more freedom to move around freely up here than we do down there, but we get suckerpunched for it.

Why won't Mexico open it's borders to be fair and let our poor and less fortunate soak up their social services? Because it's illegal there, that's why.

Mexico needs to take care of it's own. You can't convince me they are poor as the 13th richest country out of 180. You want the taxpayer here to pay for your government's incompetence towards their social responsibilities without recourse to us, and I will not stand for it.

I don't hate the Mexican culture, leave it at the border, and so will I for mine. why do I have to suffer in my way of life because your's is different?

IF YOU THINK THAT I WOULD NOT BE IN BLAZING HOT SUN PICKING FRUIT OR CLEANING CRAP WITH MY HANDS ALL DAY AND NIGHT LONG FOR $1 WHICH IS SO BULL, AND THAT I HAVEN'T YOU DON'T KNOW ME AND AMERICANS LIKE ME.

THERE IS NO JOB AN AMERICAN WON'T DO AND ILLEGALS ARE GETTING THEM ILLEGALLY BY A CLASS THAT PREFERS AMERICANS LAST FOR JOBS.

I will not fracture this country. One language, one country, leave Mexico where it is. I can see your still using the logic of the 60's which turned out to be a failure.

Request Denied.

I used to be an American. Now I am nobody.

Immigration and the illegal issue needs to be addressed humanely and carefully. Too many implications

It's all about getting educated on the impact and burden these illegals are having on the US.
