Christians are taught that even though they are evil, they are saved by grace and will go to heaven. Not because of their own behavior, but because Jesus paid their admission.

There is no incentive for Christians to obey any known laws or code of ethics. They admit they are evil, but they allow themselves to pretend they are not by hiding behind Jesus.

That is one reason so many people claim to be Christian, it justifies their immorality and requires no penalty for wrongdoing.

Why r u bother anyway?
The Christianity and Islam and others are only Material Religion, not eternal, they don't speak about the Absolute True, The Mundane World, The spiritual souls, the Spiritual world, etc They can't inform properly about the identity of God, as yourself also can't, since u think Lord Shiva's pastimes are creation of the man imagination.
Those 2 preach what u also be live, a Formless God, but the Islam had been and is most aggressive and this is the religion that is spreading more and soon we will have to have another Crusade, lol.
To identify our self as a Christian, Muslin, Hindu, only show our lack of spiritual realisation, the realisation of the soul, we are spiritual soul and so everybody else.
"All mundane knowledge is but the power of Lord's illusory energy (Maya) and an impediment to Your service." SB.4.29.47
"Acts of sacrifice, charity and penance are not to be given up; they must be performed. Indeed, sacrifice , charity and penance purify even the great souls." Bg 18.5 (this verse is only the base for what i will tell u now: get a life, do something useful to others, instead of criticise)

I don't think it is the fastest right now - I thought that was Islam. Main reason for that: disaffection, alienation and someone apparently plausible, from your own language group and culture, offering an alternative.

If you split Christianity up them some bits of it are spreading pretty fast, especially the charismatics. I think the reasons are similar but not exactly the same.

I don't think people really shop around for a religion. Those that do that never actually join one, they just make their own new age blend out of the bits they like. The ones that join tend to join the groups that give them the affirmation that they need for whatever rebellion or alternative views they feel inside themselves. But none of that is conscious of course.

This is the best reason of all: cognitive dissonance. If what you want to be true isn't backed up by the evidence, your mind will subconsciously arrange for the evidence to stack up slowly to affirm what you want to be true. That's the effect that comes into play when you "click" with a religion - and that's crucial to the decision to convert. It's not madness or having a weak mind, it's just normal humanity.

By the way, as an atheist I have difficulty believing that people as ignorant and unpleasant as thoven8 actually exist, but there we are.

Because thats the only true religion, but you would be surprised in america there aren't as many christians as you may thing, Islamic religion is spreading because theQuaran tells you that you cannot be saved, if you are not already muslim, it says christians and others burn.
Christianity spreads because that is Gods Plan, so many millions have died for their religion, or it would not be here today, You don't have to have a spiritual background you just have to get the good word out. God would rather people come in faith and kindness and goodness of their heart, than to torture, that will be satans, if people don't come to God, and accept Jesus Christ as their savior, how can God do anything for them then.

That's pretty arrogant of you to assume that the vast majority of people convert to christianity because they are ignorant dupes. You pretty much ignore most of human history.....Christianity is responsible for almost all of the good things about the world today and for illuminating the morality and peace that the western world takes for granted. In fact, everywhere christianity is not dominant, there are no enlightened values and people are miserable and spiritually starved. In places Islam holds sway, evil is a common everyday occurance in the lives of most people. In every place religion is absent (ie all mrxist/socialist/communist countries) extreme depravity is the rule, not the exception. Hundreds of millions of innocent people murdered in the genocides of national socialism, socialism and communism (all marxist movements where christianity was surpressed).

Christianity is OBVIOUSLY the correct religion as directly observable by the good that dominates where it decides morality and the evil that dominates where it does not. That is the bottom line. People without Christianity see this obvious fact and want that for themselves. That's why they convert.

You could of course, just ask them.

Well if you marry 4 women and have an average of 10 kids per wife it has to be the fastest growing religion.

Is it really? Well, if "Christianity" is indeed the fastest spreading religion, it would certainly help to get a more unified definition of what Christianity really is! I suppose that one of the most important missions of Christianity is that seeds are supposed to be sewn and the word is supposed to be spread; based on this missionary premise, maybe growth is a sign of success.

It is essential to Christianity to be evangelistic, as a matter of fact, other religions didn't seek to make converts of people of other nations in ancient times. Religions, prior to Christianity, were basically territorial and national. Everybody had their own gods and religion.

It was largely because of Christian influence that other religions began to evangelize and make converts. That's one evidence of the truthfulness of Christianity, it is the only religion that from the start sought to bring all people together and restored them to the God and creator of all.

You want the truth?

Christianity/Catholicism brought civilization to primitive indigenous people in both North and South America. Before that, they were dirt worshiping animals....unreasonable reactionary heathens.

Religion is a tool of social evolution. When, however, it begins to infringe upon freedoms within a country's constitution...it should be fought and repelled on every front.

I should say all of the above up to some point, but most serious one taking away the thought of "accountability of each individual"
No other monotheist faith offer %100 guarantee of salvation like Christianity does! seems like a lovely package. nothing to worry about passed your accepting Jesus as your Lord and savior. In other words :easy way out!

Where is your evidence from?
In England, it is the fastest reclining religion. Hardly anybody (except old people) goes to church here anymore. Americans are de-evolving - blame McDonalds and Jerry Springer - so of course more people there are turning to christianity. There are a hell of a lot of American god-botherers out there.........
