why don't we have public executions?
we could have them in the center of cities. and hang the people.
I would also like to see gang members, drug dealers, violent rapes, child molesters get the death penalty.

we could have local school childern come out and watch. to show them why they should obey the laws.

I totally agree with you, there are just some crimes that deserve this kind of end! If you look back in time, you will see the crime rate back when they did public hummiliation and hanging was way lower than current time.
Wish more people would just think about it for a minute or two.

Public executions are considered inhumane and primitive in the West. So public executions would be a huge turn-off for most people; even if they were legalized, there would be massive protests to have them outlawed again. Keep in mind that many people don't support the death penalty at all, and that the United States is the only "progressive" country in the West that still has them legalized.

That said, there could be benefits to having public executions, but I don't know that marching out school kids is the most effective way to teach them to be good citizens... :)

Also, we can all say that none of us would miss the rapists, molesters, mobsters, etc., if they were to conveniently disappear. Maybe you should be a vigilante?? You'd probably like the movie Boondock Saints; you might find it inspiring.

So, it's ok to execute people as long as we do it out of sight and out of mind?? In a lot of states capital punishment is still in effect, Texas leading the charge. Capital punishment is an execution, and if we are so...ashamed for using that we can't make it public then why do we have it? Someone said something about hypocrite, I call this being hypocrite. Yes, there is a certain amount of people that can view an execution, but yet again if they don't want the public to see what the goverment is doing, then don't do it at all.

Executions were stopped so sickos like you wouldnt get your kicks anymore. Executing criminals is a moral crime, and we lose all arguments against criminality. How can we tell people its bad to kill when the state will murder them for it anyway? Hypocrisy, weve got to rise above the level of common animals and act liek a decent, modern civilisation.

Because we've advanced as compassionate human beings. We've found a humane way to carry out justice. But if you're really into that sort of thing, Muslims have public stonings, you could get your fill of gore at one of those.
