From some of the posts on this site to those lunatics who picket at funerals holding up signs that say "God hates fags", it seems like so many Christians are not following the tenets of their religion. How about "judge not, lest ye be judged" and "let he who is without sin, cast the first stone" and "turn the other cheek"? What would Jesus think of his followers if he came back today?

How am I doing the same thing by asking a question? I don't hate anyone...I'm just curious...

I saw that sign some supposed Christian had too. I could hardly believe it. Most Christians totally miss the point about what being a Christian is all about.

I don't think Jesus ever intended for people to form a religion around himself anyway. He was only trying to point out what was wrong with the Jewish practices at the time.

Do not confuse the hatred of sin with the hatred of another person. A Christian should never hate another. Jesus taught us to even love our enemies. But sin is another thing altogether. God hates all sin and we also should hate sin especially when it is our own. But we are born in sin and live in a sinful world so we do not see sin as it really is. God does. I cannot explain why any Christian would carry a sign like that but it is wrong on all levels. Paul teaches, however, that we are to judge all things. How can this be? Of course we have to look at our own actions and the actions of others and react in a way that is appropriate not approving of that which is sin. I think in Jesus words judge not lest you be judged the meaning intended may be closer to do not condemn others. Jesus did not mean that we should accept and embrace sin as a good thing. Disobedience to God is sin and is not a thing that should be admired, supported, approved of or ignored. It is the responsibility of a Christian to stand up for what is right and condemn sin for what it is. But God does not hate sinners. He sent Jesus to be killed by us sinners in order to take sin from us. It is human nature to look at others and try to make yourself feel better by saying - hey those guys over there are much worse than I am - I Christian should simply say indeed God hates sin but let me show you how much God loves you! The point is, God does hate sin, and He loves all people. But we will indeed stand before Him someday and see our own sin for what it is. In that day if Christ's sacrifice on the cross has made atonement for us we will be foregiven and no sin will remain in us. If we have not accepted this gift from God then it will not be forced upon us and we will have chosen our sin over Him. If we love our sin more than we love God how can we plan upon His foregiveness. God has the upper hand and we have to conform to Him not vice-versa. Just to re-affirm - God loves gays and wishes they all would come to Him and be saved.

Jehovah's Witnesses are not. In fact, unpaid, they volunteer billions of hours a year as a group helping others learn answers to their questions and in finding Bible truth. They do not participate in warfare. They respect all races, nations and religions. They help their neighbors, for example expending much money, time and effort for the Katrina victims and hurricane victims from the proceding years, and have rebuilt thousands of homes volunteering in roofing, electrical and other skills without charge, and even donating the materials, and they donated tons of food, clothing, etc and even invited many of these victims into their homes! And yet somehow, just as Jesus said true Christians would be, they are hated unjustly by the world.

While it is true that many people claim to know Christ yet do not do what He says, there are still Christians out there that are full of Christ's love.

Please don't get discouraged when you see these things happening. Jesus will come back one day and set things right again. For now, all we can do is pray for people like that and love our neighbors as best as we know how.

God Bless you and yours,

Bill B.

They're probably not really Christians. Maybe they didn't sincerely accept Jesus Christ as their Savior or sometimes Christians back slide so far that God removes His hand from them to let them fall on their face so they can once again turn to Him. Don't let any body like that ruin your view of all Christians. God doesn't hate any body. Hate comes from Satan.

If they are full of hate towards an individual then they are not Christians. They may CALL themselves Christians, but don't have the heart of God. God is love and He commends us to love one another, not hate. "You shall know them by their fruit."
But if someone is in sin, as a Christian, I cannot condone this individual's actions. If God sees the sin as an abomination, as a Christian, I must also see it as such. But that does not mean that I have the right to insult them or ridicule them. I can Hate THE SIN (the act) but I must love the individual, because if God could still love me and save me while in my own sinful state, then He can also do it for them.

Your "question" is phrased in a way to make a point, not really to inquire.

You're judging real life people in today's world by standards and high morals of centuries ago.

My response is "who cares." People are going to act like whatever they want to act like whether or not they call themselves Christian or Catholic, Jew or Muslim.

These people are hypocrites who will have to stand in the light of their shame upon Judgement Day. In that moment, they will realize all of the wrongs/sins of their lives and will have to stand before God knowing all that they have done wrong. And still, in His unconditional love, He will gather them in His arms and tell them that they have done well as they weep realizing that He knows and has forgiven them all the same.

We are to follow Jesus example. Jesus loved the sinner and hated the sin.
