The state of Illinois recently banned the purchase and serving of foie gras in chicago. aren't there other things things that are more important than banning the sale of foie gras.

Probably, but I understand their point. It's cruelty to the geese, to be force fed, kept cooped up in a tiny cage just to get a fatty liver, then to be killed just to harvest that liver. The restof the bird is good for nothing at that point.

I think that foie gras as an issue pales in comparison to other major issues of human or animal suffering. People really need to get their heads set straight on priorities.

Personally I don't think that foie gras should be made illegal. If it becomes so where I live I'll just have to grow my own. Foie gras is delicious!

You justify torturing animals by stating that there are worse things in the world? That's a pretty weak justification. Torturing living creatures is wrong no matter how you look at it. It's not as if it is a huge sacrifice in your life to simply not order foie gras where it is available.

Absolutely! A government should not have to dictate those kinds of things, but really, that kind of law is a political statement intended to raise the general public's conciousness....although...I am surprised they didn't include veal.....must have a strong beef lobby in the state....
People will eat whatever they want.....prohibition proved these kinds of laws don't work.....Why don't they ban fast food restaurants as well, with the national obesity problem at an all time high, isn't that a form of cruelty to the doctors and nurses and healthcare personnel that have to take care of all the super-sizers!!!!

LOL...but that's just my opinion

Yes it should be illegal along with a whole load of other unnecessary food items that involve cruelty to animals.

Yes, it should be illegal -- as should mink coats!
