I think the chicken came first but it may be wrong since it takes a chicken to produce an egg...

If you are a Creationist, the chicken came first, because God created each species as adult animals in the Garden of Eden. If you are an Evolutionist, the egg came first, because mutations take place in the DNA of offspring, not in adult animals.

If you believe in Creation, the Bible states that God filled the world with every animal on land, sea and air. I take that to mean the creatures were created "as is" and not as embryos.
