I have a guy friend who has been dating his girlfriend for about 2 years now. He complains about her all the time and says he wants to break up with her but never does. He cheats all over her without any remorse. I've asked him several times why he just doesn't break up with her and be single if he wants to date all over the globe. He says it is hard for to get out of a relationship after so much time has gone by. I don't believe this to be true because if I'm not happy with someone I would just leave. Is this a comfort thing? I don't understand? Guys, can you shed some light on this for me.

The simple answer is just to tell you not to confuse sex with Love. Also he actually may feel more guilty breaking up with her than cheating on her. In his mind Love and Sex are very different.
also religions have taught us that there are good girls you marry. and bad girls you don't (but you have sex with the bad)
I'ts not a male thing to cheat. Females do it just as often. however they are much much much more quiet about it. the only way scientist know this is true is because of DNA testing.
males cheat to spread the most genes.
Females get married to have a Provider. they cheat to get the best genes.
This is all way deep down in our minds.

girl, I've been in a relationship for 5 years and there were times I wanted to get out since year 1. I couldn't do it, I guess it's a male thing, or at least some guys. She had to initialise it in the end.

They stay for the same reason women stay. Because they have a lot of comfort there and they don't have to worry about making it on their own. They are comfortable with having a place to go to and have sex without any worries, and still be able to have the fun on the side too, and to have someone help pay bills.

Hey! I'm not a guy but I can tell you that there's a usuall part in this occasion...I mean it's true that being with somebody for such a long time makes it harder to brake up coz you know this 'll probably hurt the otherone...however doing this(what your guy friend does) has no excuses...it would be better hurting her but telling her the truth than cheating on her that way...

Thats very simple...because they can. If a guy is cheating and he doesnt get caught he continues to do so because hey why not my girl dont know anyways. And if he gets caught cheating and the girl finds out and still stays then he figures he can get away with it and it continues.

its hard for people to break a routine..hes in a routine...whenever a routine is good or bad, once ur use to it, its hard to break it unless something drastic happens..i know a guy that is with his girl for 5 years and constantly cheats...he says he doesnt want to break up cause he isnt sure he wants to lose the girl..which makes no sense..but wahtever..glad its not me doing it..plus, what goes around comes around, so in the end it all equals out

hmm...well for u may be the guy doesnt like u.or may be as he had a gf 2 years ago he is quite attached to her.i dont think wht he said is really meant to be.cause if he really dont like the girl he would let go.but do u knw whts the esiest way to solve out this matter?talk to him abt this clamly n just be frank n see wht he says n thn u can through all ur anger if u wnt to ...i hope u got my point!

First off dear this is not a "Men" thing. I had the same thing happen to me with my ex. She was like your guy friend...a whore.
People do this for their own reasons. Usually a low self esteem, no self respect issue. For my Ex she needed to feel wanted to feel complete and having MANY guys after her made her feel good.

I think alot of guys do not want to be alone. They like the comfort of knowing there is someone always there for them but like things new & exciting to go along with it.

Men cheat and still stay because the women he is cheating on with the other women is still with him. The girl have too leave because if she don't he will not stop.
